I've thought about a telepresence cat toy a bit but haven't had time to sit down and start hacking something together. Raspberry pi with wifi dongle and webcam would be perfect. My thought was to make a post about the size of a scratching post and put a webcam on top. Put some servo controlled arms that dangle off and have toys like a feather or mouse attached--the servo would let you swing the arms around. Inside put some kind of simple treat dispenser that drops a treat down in front of the post. The final thing would be setting up a laser pointer to bounce off two servo controlled mirrors at 90 degree angle like a lasershow projector (real lasershows use very fast and expensive galvos, but I don't care about speed and servos are fine). Have it setup so the laser shoots down onto the floor in front of the camera and do some math to let you drag your cursor around on the webcam image and move the laser mirror servos and the laser dot accordingly to follow. Also put a small speaker in to play a sound before dispensing treats so you can teach the cat to come to the contraption on command. I got lots of ideas but need more time lol
