Dickeye posted:No, they're each other's doubles. The point of Cecil's part in Sandstorm B is that Desert Bluffs is, deliberately or not, unaware of what's actually going on. OK, two things that contradict these theories: (1) Though Cecil and Kevin look similar, they do not look exactly the same and do not insist that each one is the real person, like the other doubles. Kevin specifically has black voids for eyes, and Cecil does not. They have different smiles. (2) It would be difficult for the other doubles that appear in their respective towns to actually be the towns crossing over because they have different names. For example, Intern Dana fights Intern Dana, while Intern Vanessa doesn't fight Intern Vanesa, even though both are injured by staplers. Vanessa doesn't like and insist she's Dana and Dana doesn't lie and insist she's Vanessa. Both Mayor Winchells insist that they are the same person, not one insisting she's the mayor of Desert Bluffs and the other that she's the Mayor of Night Vale. Also, if all the doubles went to where they appeared, in Night Vale, that means they LEFT Desert Bluffs, so Desert Bluffs would have an exodus of people instead of people arriving. So, um, I still don't have an answer for you, but I have thought about this a lot, and the whole "Desert Bluffs people are exact duplicates of Night Vale people" doesn't work because they aren't actually exact duplicates. What we here in both narrations implies two sets of doubles, one for each town.

Also, as for 2, Kevin describes Cecil trying to murder him as a "hug". So it's clear they're not entirely on the same page about what words mean.

OK, I'm willing to accept that Cecil and Kevin's experiences were different than the people in general, because they walked through a void between radio stations, but I still think that in general people stayed in their respective towns and met their respective doubles, not that the towns collapsed on each other. One interesting interpretation of the "hug" Kevin describes is that was as violent as Cecil, and he is just a filthy liar on the radio.

The Vanessas "assembling a bookshelf" and one of them being accidnetally injured? Yeah, that probably didn't happen that way at all. Part of Desert Bluff's thing, that's the opposite of Night Vale, is how deep in denial everyone is about the crazy poo poo that's going on and how terrible it is. Either that or they're completely inured in a way that Night Vale isn't, which is actually scarier.

I don't see how they decided that late night paranormal talk show with whoever it was (now Art Bell) is better than this. City of Dreams is pretty rad and has 100% less mouthbreathing gun nuts who call in. This is likely part of why I unsubbed from sirius two years ago. Terrible content management and demographic targeting.

I imagine licensing issues make it unfeasible, but I'd love to see a "Best of The Weather" album in the store someday. P.S. While I'm still the most recent poster, I have a question. I signed up for Tumblr recently, and I thought I'd check out the Night Vale tag, but I don't understand why all these pictures of Cecil have three eyes. So what is the relationship exactly between Hannibal and Night Vale? I know Jeffrey mentioned the theory that when Night Vale started really blowing up a couple weeks ago, it was because a lot of the Hannibal fanbase had come over, but I don't see the connection. I did notice that Night Vale fans on tumblr are constantly posting pictures of Mags Mikkelsen though.

People also regularly demand that people stop drawing Cecil white, even though we don't know what Cecil looks like, and he has a white guy voice, because his VA is a white guy. So that's the natural default setting. But a lot of the fans are white teenage girls who are being WAY too politically correct in their rants. I think Cecil looks pretty bad with a third eye. Gross, even. In Buddhist and Indian art, where the third eye is really important, it's drawn sideways, so it forms a natural triangle of eyes, and that looks much better, but very few people do that.
