Ha - yeah actually I did, but not with a World Time Server web page in the background (basically just EXIF data from a few photos and a Facebook post). I'm definitely putting something in my speech about her accepting my geek tendencies!Fix posted:Oath Complete! You're missing a point for your name! actually you're not, it's in your first pic I really, really want to try some water effects stuff - but I'll be starting slowly, with Achmed Jones' terrain prize and move up from there. Is the Vallejo water 'foam' stuff just thick white paint or something?

I think he's talking about this stuff: http://www.vallejo.nl/gb/assets/s2dmain.html?http://www.vallejo.nl/gb/vallejogeneralproducts/val26231.html It pretty much is just really thick white paint I ended up using my pot on a painting (aka canvas painting, not model) because it didn't really work out for the snow look I had in mind. But yea, the water effects gel is what you're describing (not to be confused with other 'water effects' products out there, which are more liquid and pourable) which is fun to play with, great for icicles and whatnot

OATH COMPLETE The Journal weathering was done via a rusty mask. This guy looks a million times better in person. It is one of my favorite things I've painted so far. The subtle blue gray undercoat on his fur doesnt really show up very well in the pictures. The rust effect also looks a heck of a lot better in person as well. All in all I am pleased and had a lot of fun painting this guy.

Oath Complete! I would like to claim Detektiv's Jurnal for weathering. You can't see it too well in that picture but I tried to weather the top of the drop pod where exhaust and I hope flames shoot out of. Here is a more clear picture. Not perfect, but given the fact that I moved this month and painted 13 space marines (not oathed) I think I did just fine this month keeping up painting.

OATH COMPLETE Detektuv's Jurnal Ama no Zako has devoured many and slain more in her toxic miasma, and in the process her robes have gotten all dirty! Bloodstains and purple vapor stains just will not wash out. Puppet Seamus's cleaver and Pokey Viktoria's pokey bits still hold stains from the surprisingly blood filled dolls they've carved up. Box Art The puppet trio are all based off of their official colour schemes as seen on the official Puppet Wars website and here for convenience: http://www.puppet-wars.com/puppet.php

Okay, OATH IS COMPLETED. The battlewagon "Naghamma": Ork vehicles must have lots of dakka! As for the jurnal ingredient... well... it's pretty much the whole thing. Here's a closeup of the ram, for instance: I believe that is AP/completed/username/jurnal/base = 10 points, if I am remembering correctly that vehicles get the base points for free.

Phew. On a different note, any chance of a sneak preview of next month's theme? I'm prepping and priming the mini I know I'm going to be doing, but I wanna do a few more, and it would be good to get an idea of what is going to work well. I'm planning to speed-paint the first mini tomorrow, so it would be good to have something to paint for the rest of the month :P

Still have a ton of highlights and other bits to do but I'm calling this Oath Complete for now. I made a major mistake early on when I decided to try and rush the priming by buying a can of spray paint. The wrong kind of spray paint... It ended up giving everything a sticky overly glossy coat that felt like I was trying to paint on wax paper. Really should have just dumped the whole thing in simple green but I had an oath to complete drat it! Got so frustrated I ended up just building up to white from dark grey instead of my usual dark grey> light grey> white method since the GW base paints were holding better. Felt odd doing (minimum) 4 layers of white instead of the build up, but probably saved myself a few extra layers in the end. Wasn't quite sure how to translate my split scheme into the Aegis line, but I think this worked fairly well! Let there be dread arms! The autocannons~ The other white (and black) dakka 5th ed. starter style Plasmatic goodness (from the rear)

Oath Complete Had to rush the crisis suit because if there's one thing I know how to do, it's procrastinate. I kinda like the fat highlights though. Here are the journal entries: Figured the melta would discolour a bit from the heat when it fires. I also figured that these motherfuckers are trudging through a battlefield and there ain't no way you're truding through a battlefield and have your shoes be pristine, so they got drybrushed a bit. I hope the Chaos Lord qualifies for box art given he's supposed to be an Iron If not I guess I can paint up my Warsmith at some point. I, Schmetterling, declare OATH COMPLETE! After spending far too long trying to find out this wizard's official Reaper name, I learnt that he's a brand new sculpt, just for Bones. I like his little familiar quite a lot. He's sort of a sloth-monkey. It's messy work, sorcery. Lots of weathering for the Jurnal in the form of glittery spell residue all over everything.

Oath Complete! (Except no bases .... :{ ) It's a themed group! Detektuv's Journal Machine gunnner Barry shows a little bit of weathering on the helmet and the cans and crap on his back. There's some more weathering in the minis, but this is what will show up best to claim the Detektuv's Journal. Really down to the wire on this one... heading out here in a minute for the rest of the day, so I didn't get a chance to do bases, but at least everyone got finished!

Oath Complete Detektuv's Log inspired the verdigris and the dirt on the tracks. Also all the dried gore dripping from the hooks and crucifixes. The shields down the side belong to various squads in my army (heresy-pattern World Eaters, Word Bearers, Night Lords and Death Guard) so I can play it with any unit that needs it. Fluffwise, it's either the warlord demonstrating mastery over his vassal warbands, or just a rather grisly pool car. Galaspar fucked around with this message at 23:53 on Aug 31, 2013 |

Oath Complete! Overall it looks crummier than I had hoped; I tried applying lots of ink to the wood to make it look darker and damper (for the Weathering), like an old dock that's in badly need of new boards, but I think I needed some better highlighting before soaking it in strong tone ink :/

Oath Complete! You all make me feel inadequate, but here goes, best lighting I could arrange under the circumstances I painted their helmets like Daft Punk, because the silver one had a visor just begging to be painted like that. Eldar by day... ...and by night. Yep, that's my gimmick. Frost all over the anti-grav bits Awwww, a BABY! I've learned a lot with these, I plan to do better next time Detektuv's Jurnal: Weathering The bases were meant to be a clear glacier on a light blue base, lightly dusted with white, but the Vallejo water effects just doesn't want to clear up yet. So it's more snow than Glaicer right now. Also the frost on the Grav platform anti-grav parts. Backstory: Where their fellow squad members had disappeared to, they could not say. Because they were harder, better, faster and stronger, the Warlock had instructed them to take the platform to an advantageous position, ready to flank a greenskin walker while the squad attacked from the front... yet that attack never arrived, and the walker moved on. They wandered for weeks, all around the world it seemed, lending their aid to groups of aspect warriors as they searched. Finally, the Autarch in charge of the expedition sounded the general recall to the war portal, the mission accomplished, the ancient corrupted mon'keigh AI system derezzed. Deciding to look just one more time before leaving this world, the crew heard heavy gunfire in the distance. Swiftly making their way to towards the sound, they finally discovered their squad - backs against the wall, pinned by one of the greenskins ugly tanks. The crew sited the weapon, and aimed it at the rear of the tank - their squad was about to get lucky...

Oath Complete! Aww, it's a baby! For this guy, I'm attempting Jurnal (mud on his legs) and Box Art though it'll be ok if I don't get the latter, it's based off the rightmost guy here http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/kamau-2/ but my paint I don't think quite hit the right shades.
