Oh nice! I've been wondering this myself. I have all the singles (more or less...I think I'm missing #2 and #7), but I bought the first hardcover because it has been such a great run, and it looked like a fantastic edition (it is). I'm glad they're bringing out a 2nd volume.

Avengers kinda is too, though.

Avengers #1-17 tells one big story and can be labeled "PRELUDE TO INFINITY."

I already own most of these issues and the fact that it's 90's X-Men should put me off.

But the series was so convoluted at this point I can't help but love it. Consider this dialogue from a panel no bigger than a postal Stamp

Marvel Masterworks question; when they're released in paperback, which ones get the silver/gold/red border covers and which ones get the black covers, or do they all get that eventually?

I'm torn, since I have the Masterworks up as far as the end of the Dark Phoenix Saga (volume 5) and I've no clue when the next one will come out, and those look mighty tempting.

(FWIW, I think Vol. 1 is a re-release)

Seriously though, I am pretty sure all "Classic Omnibu" that contain already Masterwork-ed material use the same files unless the material has been specifically upgraded in between Masterworks and Omnibu?

In short: I don't think every "Classic Omnibus" is remastered specifically for the Omnibus release. Some are, and some are the "same old" Masterworks files.

I think it looks fantastic. There is no reason to believe that there has been any remastering done for the reprint. I can almost guarantee the reprint of volume 1 will not look any different than the first print other than the paper in the first print will be much nicer.

Why will the paper be not as nice? Have they changed the type of paper in the intervening 7 years? (I know from reading in here that they've changed the type of bindings on newer omnibuses).

Yes, the paper has been getting thinner and thinner. It's not bad, it's just not as nice as some of the earlier books. Also, Uncanny X-Men v.1 has particularly nice, thick and creamy paper.

Yeah, I believe they've done that for the MMW reprints as well; I had the Barnes & Noble edition of the first UXM Masterworks paperback and it used sort of glossy (not sure if that's the right word) paper, while the one with the black cover has regular paper.

Okay, guys ... I was waiting for approval to give you the news, but since it's up for preorder on Amazon, I guess it's pretty out in the public now anyway... Yes, there WILL be an English language version of Don's complete works published by Fantagraphics starting in 2014.

Volume #1 of "The Don Rosa Library" is seemingly scheduled for a June 2014 release at the moment. Content wise it will be similar to the Scandinavian "Hall of Fame" edition rather than the "Don Rosa Collection" deluxe box set, so please don't count on Don's underground story "Return to Duckburg Place" or similar stuff to be included here. There will be, however, tons of bonus stuff that have never been seen before in US publications. Stay tuned for more info on this nice English language edition, and if you want you can already preorder it here:

Oh, I doubt it's worth anything. I picked it up at Target or Walmart or something in 2006/2007 (it say's 2006 on the leg) when people were still excited for the movie. Probably paid like $15 for it.

Since it seems that there's an UXM Vol. 2 omnibus on the way next year (as well as a reprint of Vol. 1 later this month), I've been wondering if I should think about selling off my Masterworks (I've up to Vol. 5) and switching over to that format. Does anybody suppose it might be something worth doing?

I've actually seen some discussion of how the rest of Claremont's X-Men should be collected. One suggestion I've seen is that the Vol. 2 omni could go from No. 132 to about 159 (ie. MMW Vol. 5 - 7), then Nos. 160 -175 could appear in some kind of OSHC, at which point No. 175 onwards could be collected a an "X-Men by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr." omnibus which will take it through to Mutant Massacre, from which point on I think more or less everything's been collected (aside from Inferno, which seems to be the only one that's not in print atm).

Those volumes of Bone are B&W. I got the colored ones for my cousins and they're nice, but Bone is always B&W in my mind. Plus, they are regular comic sized, not the smaller Scholastic format.

No surprises in Oglaf. There's like four bonus pages in the back of random drawings. One big issue I have is the alt text is written in medium gray on a dark gray background. It's very difficult to read. I think I went a few pages before realizing it was even there.

Claremont's original run continues to be massively influential on X-Men comics and comics as a whole. There's a ton of great ideas and stories in there that are worth reading, though the early stuff, at least, is very much of its era in terms of pacing and writing.

I would imagine that depends on how much you like the X-men in general. Claremont's run is considered pretty terrific by most folks (well, most of it is, anyways).
