If you have any interest in I Have No Mouth then buy it right loving now and back it up on a DVD, SD-Card and a USB-stick. This is one of those games I never believed GOG would ever get because Harlan Ellison is such a huge dick. I can't even imagine what they did to get the digital rights. The only way to get it for years has been via mail order from some weirdo.
The reason you should back it up is because Harlan might throw a fit and cancel the whole agreement at the drop of a hat. He actually phoned up Lowtax and yelled at him over a frontpage article once.

Argh, don't tell me that.

I was just about to post this. I don't believe that GOG can legally take away a game that is purchased as that would essentially be theft, but they can remove a game from further sale. I bought both Dark Fall games before they were pulled and they were still there all the way up until they brought them back - I also have Cryostasis and XIII that were pulled earlier this year and have not returned.

Making backups is a good idea in any situation and I understand fully if you want to buy this game right away because one of the creators is a loony, but I don't think that you need to worry about GOG pulling one of your games off of your shelf.

For further reference (this was posted before), the below link has a list of every game ever pulled from GOG:

No one knows for sure he will obviously, but Ellison is a crazy person (or at the very least an extreme narcissist), and it wouldn't be out of character for him to throw an apocalyptic poo poo-fit over some imaginary slight. He probably would have been black listed decades ago if he wasn't so freaking talented.

It's the principle that counts. If Ellison can sue a publication because they printed the opinion of someone else, then I will be super miffed if future generations can't play this game.

Oddly enough, Ellison actually approved of the game. There was even an interview with him and the creators in a Game Informer magazine recently.

He was actually an active part of its development, he helped write the game and he voiced AM.

There was an old DVD release of A Boy and His Dog (that may have been mastered from the laserdisc since it originally came in one of those hard plastic cases) that had a commentary track on it that was nothing but Ellison talking about the movie and ranting for an hour and a half. Track it down if you want a full dose of Ellison crazy. He's a fantastic artist, but it's clear he's just got more than a few screws loose.

As many artists do.

I Have No Mouth can be drat tough at times, but its unique tone and the venom Ellison puts into AM makes it something that's well worth experiencing. A few will probably want to switch to a Lets Play after getting screwed over by some of the trial and error stuff that's littered throughout the game though. The original was made compatible with ScummVM, I assume this release works with it too.

In the case of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, it was due to legal actions between Bohemia Interactive (the developer) and Codemasters (the publisher); it was brought back as Arma: Cold War Assault once the lawyers stopped yelling at each other. For Colin McRae 05 and TOCA 3, it was due to expiring licenses for various IPs within the game (namely cars and sponsors).

The bit about The Terminator is bullshit. The only thing the film had in common with his stories is that there was a soldier who travels through time. It was a pretty frivolous lawsuit, which Orion settled to avoid a drawn out trial. Harlan Ellison is a monumental rear end in a top hat that hasn't written anything of note in years, and only makes money these days by suing people. He is the Edge Games of science fiction.

That makes a lot of sense - CMR is basically a sport game.

I just wish that they would warn people, if possible, when a game is about to be pulled. They very well might not have a chance and have to pull the plug immediately, but I hope that they have the goodwill to warn people, even provisionally. Maybe if a company is going out of business and selling the rights to certain IPs (Activision leaps to mind) they can let people know that that might happen. Again, I know that it may not be possible due to timing, NDAs and the like, but I really hope that they make it a point to do whatever they can when these cases pop up.

They have warned people in the past when it has come up. It can be tough sometimes, depending on what they know. But as far as I can remember, if they think or know a game will be pulled, they'll announce it.

In his defense, he has written some incredible stuff.

No argument about the gaping rear end in a top hat bit though.

Which story in Mouth does people here enjoy the most? I've always liked Gorrister's for being the most focused of the bunch, and I tend to have a preference towards simpler stories, as each part becomes more effective, if done right.

Universal Hint System is the perfect set of walkthroughs to give you just the info you need at a hard part. I used it to look up two or three of the fiddlier bits in Grim Fandango where I got stuck for hours. It's really great confirming that your idea of the solution is correct but there's just something missing in your execution.

Steam sometimes discounts the Daedalic bundle but their bundle doesn't come with The Whispered World and I've never seen Night of the Rabbit discounted so this is the best deal.

Having played through and extensively enjoyed the Divinity 2/expansion on 360 recently. I went ahead and installed Divine Divinity on my newish, yet ancient PC. After actually getting it to work by installing it into a non-program files directory and turning changing the graphics from Direct 3d to software, it looks incredibly sharps moves really fast. I feel like I'm playing The Elder Scrolls: Diablo II. I'm really amused how much (even early on) that Divinity 2 referenced the old game.

Beyond Divinity aside, the whole series has been quite a pleasant surprise, and really put Larian on the map for me as a studio to watch. Really can't wait to play Original Sin at this point, and hopefully they've got a proper sequel planed at some point after that.

They really created a pretty cool world. Also, in Divinity 2, the battle tower with the swirling sky above is as metal as gently caress. The combat was so incredibly customizable too; I really like that long range teleportation melee attack coupled with a spin attack and skill point damage multipliers for each. It seems like they released the game into a bunch of similar, bigger name releases. I wish it would have been released into a AAA drought.
