Been trying to get a friend of mine to read LSoTW and MTMTE lately, so I decided to go back and read Last Stand again.

I'd almost forgotten just how much stuff Roberts had set up back here for stuff that happens in MTMTE. I mean, there was only two years in between them, but it's still impressive.

I'm being made to sell mine (because stupidly I bought him on my dad's credit card instead of running to an ATM to get the cash out. In my defence I didn't want to lose out on getting him while I was gone), and I was wondering about how readily available he still might be. I don't want to be hunting around and not seeing him for below $200 or so, as I can imagine easily.

Huh. For whatever reason I didn't know Hoist was just a Trailcutter remold/paint.

I like Trailcutter better so far. I can't get Hoist's crane to sit properly in alt- mode and I think my version if it was constructed incorrectly.
Speaking of these guys, here's a third-party thing I plan to actually buy: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/950642-x2-toys-hoist-trailcutter-add.html
It gives Hoist his back wings and truck bed kibble, in a backpack that apparently doesn't have to be removed when he transforms. It also gives Trailbreaker his G1 hand gun, but I don't really care about that.

BizarroAzrael posted:

Got Generations Stealth Jet Megatron at TRU the other day, who had waves I knew nothing about. Pleasing to look at in both modes except for the fusion cannon just being a way to use extra kibble.

And UK collectors may be interested to know that Tesco seem to have marked a lot of their Beast Hunters stuff down half price, if anyone is into that.

Where was the triple changer voyager waves in relation to that Megatron wave? Just in case they actually come out here.
Here in the US the triple-changers were out way before the deluxes, probably 4-5 months earlier?

$200 seems to be the upper limit of what people are willing to pay right now. That will likely creep upward as time goes on. eBay auctions that are bid-based rather than Buy It Now seem to settle around $160-180.

I kind of think the hoist that's a recolor of the 2007 tow truck (longarm I think) looks better than this hoist as a classics.

So Predacons Rising has leaked and being weak I fell to temptation and watched it.
Before I had thought that the next series would just continue from Prime because Hasbro made such a HUGE deal about aligned continuity that I could not see them abandoning it, but now I'm not so sure. I mean, Megatron's come back from a lot of things but I'm not sure how he'll come back from being alive but just sick and tired of this tyranny poo poo. I'm glad they didn't just kill him again and act like everyone's expecting it to last this time. It would take some major asspulls in the plot to come back from that. But really it was a strong finish to Prime.

Really, the next series could do something based on IDW or a televised version of WFC and the exodus novels or dig up another crazy british guy to write a show for them. I just don't see a return of TF Prime in the future.

Edit: Nope, never mind that speculation. That was a great way to finish Transformers Prime. Even has some foundation for RiD or MtMtE when you're reaching but I doubt they'll go that way.

I just ordered Soundwave MasterPiece from Takara through the specialist store. Want to know Iceland's insane prices? $228 for Soundwave MP, $82 for each pack of two of his tapes.

Iced Cocoa

It's cheaper than the Hasbro version. As for extra cassettes, I'll figure out in time if I want to buy Rumble/Ravage or not. Not going to touch on the other two anyway.

The guy at the store also tried to up-sell this, telling me about Soundblaster and how he has Ratbat, the coolest of them all. I am not that interested.

Classics Hoist finally sat long enough on my desk that I had to open it and see what all the comments were about, and I love this little guy. Truck doesn't peg together great, but at least he doesn't feel hollow like a lot of the other releases lately (looking at you Combaticons) but my real gripe is with that comic. Not really sure what was bad about that ending, but no most of the more recent ones are a bit more punchy shooty less introspective.

The older spotlights were part of the bigger storyline and were pretty hit or miss.

Maybe its just that I don't know what happened next but with the book just ending with Hoist just sitting down and realizing he was all alone and that was his fear and no further resolution, it just seemed like an abrupt ending.

However liking Hoist led me to opening Trailbreaker too, and I really liked his book and his figure as well. Nominating this mold for 2013 Deluxe of the Year.

The GDO guys can still be gotten, the scouts had a really weird release though in North America. The case ratios were sort of screwy and I think there may have been two to three variations and Dead End wound up being the shortpacked figure. But they're still available in Asia. They also axed the Brawn release who would have been the crown jewel of the set next to Hotspot. Also Cliffjumper has a misplaced pin that winds up breaking the grill off when you attempt to transform it, it's in like 90% of the figures.

I bought the entire HFTD line right as they were putting it on discounts when RTS was coming out. It's honestly the best of the best in all the movies lines. Once you have every figure from HFTD there is not reason to get the DOTM deluxes or bother with the previous ROTF or Original movie figures.

With the possible exception being Voyager Bludgeon, but he was repainted for HFTD as Banzaitron. HFTD is also still really cheap on the secondary market.

The only things that will run you some cash are the Scout Prototype figures that were axed at the end of RTS. They used a green Breacher mold with white panels and called it Roadblock or something but it was never mass released and only a few mockups and prototypes were made. That and the limited release RTS Windcharger and it's a shame his mold was never re-used. Then again the new legends mold for Tailgate might be much better for a new Windcharger than the RTS one.

Because the Generations Legends guys are probably much better than most of the scout classes released.

All of Autobot Knockout's lines were fantastic, and they did a bunch of excellent visual gags.

The monologuing was beyond obnoxious. It's worse than all the monologues through the totality of the show summed together. Oy.

I watched the first ten minutes of TFP:BH:PR and it seemed ok so far. Nice to see that the Autobots don't have to dirty their hands with the actual rebuilding work, leave that to the vehicons/working class. I'm also glad they're there along with the Autobots, because it would feel like the planet was a little big for just the 7 of them, otherwise.

The obvious Movie parallels can be seen in that opening scene , although as great as John Bishop is, he's no Orson Wells.
