Haha. drat, that sure is a picture :v:

Good catch! I wasn't aware that it's a legit reference. I checked the game out, and it's pretty rad tbh.

The Leukemia is legit weird. Wouldn't an esuna clear that all up? Or is leukemia resistant to status-clearing magic? Are there other real world diseases, like Sickle Cell or Cholera? Are those also untreatable through magic?
See!? That raises even more questions!
I honestly shook my head at that Leukemia part, it's just so weirdly out of place. Like, if you already have some magic silence disease, why not go the full mile and make up another magic disease that fucks with your immune system? :downs:

Also, it's funny that you mention Three the Hard Way, as that game ranks pretty high among my personal top ten of maker games. It's good! I actually thought about LPing it instead of this one, but ultimately decided for :japan:

With that said though, TTHW is a game that I would like to do at some point. Especially since it has a bunch of optional content and a very impactful fork in the story. Would be interesting to see what path people choose when that comes up, as each decision blocks its own part of content.

It's certainly anime enough to fit in!

It wouldn't surprise me if it's entirely unrelated, though. It seems like a weird reference to make. But of course I'd have to reconsider if it turns out their neighbours were the Gradius Republic and the Thunderforce Kingdom.

It's a remnant of the poor writing and storytelling done in the first game. It wasn't that great of a game, twists-aside, and honestly Romancing Walker is at least 200% better story-wise. Yeah, go fig, huh? It's actually "anime-ish" because the first game wasn't sure if it was trying to be anime or serious, and it flip flopped between the two a lot. Like, three times in the opening cutscene, including the whole "don't propose to me yet, I'll die" cliche.

I'll be honest, I was kinda disappointed when I saw you doing Romancing Walker, because I wanted to LP it. When I first made my account (for Dangan Ronpa), I decided to check out if Romancing Walker or any other Rm2k games had been made. Ah well, my contributions to this thread are good enough.

I'll have to check on my end. Piecing together the bits and pieces, and finding out about holes between the first game and the second game (which is probably due to translation), etc. The first game implies it was after, I'll say that much.

Looking For Clues

We're finally on the way to Cellen! Aren't you excited about getting some hard clues in this whole demon-mystery? Don't be

I'm fresh off the boat, and already meet a new enemy.

As you probably expect, they can poison you. But they also die hella fast, so gently caress em.

"Hot~"

"What a hot weather over here! Suddenly I don't feel like doing anything~"

A desert being hot and uncomfortable? Well, I never!

"Ah!"

"What's wrong!? Orubia!!"

"It's nothing...My foot just sank into the sand little bit, sorry."

"You have to watch out where you are walking."

"And you'll get dehydrated if you stay under the sun for long time."

"Let's start the investigation. Find any traces of the queen."

So, how is this exactly going to work? Well, this is another section where you have to find the one person that hides progress, but you also have to talk to each person in this town. Kinda tedious, mostly because none of the villagers has any clues for you. Nope, not a single one of them will tell you anything interesting! They all just say random stuff that I'm not going to transcribe. However, the girls do their own thing in town, and you can trigger a scene with each of them. Also, there will be a lot of complaining about the heat.

Even Ryle is affected :ohdear:

Well, let's watch those scenes before I show you the progress-person.

"Nothing. I heard many times that her majesty has no reason coming down here."

"But don't miss any details."

"You can count on it!"

"Oh, and by the way."

Everybody is crushed by the heat, so it's a common theme for some of the right choices during the scenes here.

"It's very hot here. You should not stay outside for too long."

"I'll be just fine. I can use water magic in case I need to cool down."

"But watch out!! We are not here for vacation you know."

"Oh, mm...."

"I don't want to remind you this but you are the weakest in the party. Not only that you are too kind..."

"You mean I am dragging everyone behind?"

Anybody else noticing a pattern in scenes with Orubia? :v:

"No, I don't remember you ever done that. Besides, you saved my life."

"....."

"I don't want to see you getting hurt...but since you joined this time."

"I don't want to be left behind when everyone is going. There must be something I can help..."

"And not only that I..."

"Hey? Your face is all red! You better take a rest inside."

"......~ Sometimes guys can be so dumb. Dear Ryle..."

"Huh?"

"Nevermind. And don't worry about the sun light, I can use my barrier."

"Ok, then I talk to you later."

Att 28 >>> 30

Hayami is right around the corner.

"Sessha suspect there might be traps set by shinobis around here."

"But all the White ninjas are at Factoria you know?"

"Just in case."

I honestly would like to tell her to stop being paranoid, and do some real work around here. But that would be mean, I guess. Positive reinforcement and so on. :v:

"You suspect other assassins might follow our tracks?"

"Not yet, but can't let your guard down, we're dealing with those who can even control dragons."

"..I understand. Continue searching."

"Roger."

Att 28 >>> 30

Onwards!

"It's too hot."

"No I meant did you find any useful information?"

"Can't you tell by just looking at my face now?"

"Your face? What about your face?"

"I said do I look like someone who just found something to you? I am hot and miserable!!"

"Arggg!! I just got hotter thanks to you~"

"Yeah...you almost gonna pop."

"I already wasted my energy on you- *trembling furiously*"

My instincts tell me to run as far as I can, but Ryle wants to encourage her.

"Caris, everyone's too tired under such hot weather, you're the only one I can count on."

"Man~ Have you forgot the fact that I am a fragile and delicate lady~"

"But if you find the clue first, I am sure everyone will respect you and admire your talent~?"

"Not good at encouraging people are you? Ryle..."

"!!!?"

"Just kiddin~ I'll be the first person to find the clues!"

Att 27 >>> 29

Next stop, Fina.

"Basically nothing. Nobody even saw someone looks like her."

"Maybe she can stealth like ninjas?"

"You're right! That's a possibility. If that's the case, there's no point of asking folks about her..."

Stop making this whole deal even more complicated :argh:

"I am afraid that's for sure~"

Since Fina takes heroing very serious, we continue to search for clues.

"Anyway, let's search for as many clues as possible, we're dealing with the Mahzoks here!"

"Yup, I'll keep looking around here. You go ahead."

Att 28 >>> 30

And here's the final scene with Latyss.

"Nothing. As I talked to more people, I doubt the queen came this far."

"I agree with you. Why would she even bother to visit the town in the middle of desert?"

"Latyss, it's too hot~ Use the ice magic pretty please~"

"But you are the Elementals!?"

"Are you kiddin? Of course I do! Don't even think about comparing us with those nasty ghosts!"

Probably lost in translation, as this makes zero sense.

"You can use your wind. You ARE the wind Elemental!"

"I lost too much strength from the sea trip~ "That girl" is gonna kill me~"

The hint tells you to remember who you are actually aiming at. So forget about Sylph, and pamper Latyss. :v:

"I am fine. I have "React Wind" But that's not enough for Sylph."

"Your body is more fragile, so don't overdo it."

"As long as you don't make me to."

"Ouch, you sure know where to poke me!"

That's what she sai :suicide: Sorry, I just have heard a lot of innuendos today.

"Just kidding. I came here by my own will."

"(She's become more talkative and now she even "jokes" around!)"

Att 26 >>> 28

Well, that was a whole lot of nothing. Okay, it at least had some funny moments, so it's not a total waste of your time. But I'm still a bit bummed that you do all this running around, without accomplishing anything relevant. Anyway, we've farted around long enough, let's progress.

In the middle of the village is a girl, that totally does not look like she does belong here. This would be clearer if she had loving turned around for once, but nope. :argh:

"Y-YES?"

"I would like to ask you something...Is it ok?"

"Huh~What could it be?"

I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is a new girl for Ryle's harem. She won't join us right away though. Also, she is very special, so enjoy this short sneak peek about her.

"Actually I am looking for any information regarding the Factorian queen's visit to this town."

"The QUEEN from Factoria!? Where? Where is she?"

"Heh?"

"Ale?(Huh?) Didn't you say the queen is here?"

So I googled "Ale?" but came up with nothing aside from hits for beer. I first thought it would be French, but that also lead to nowhere. Putting Japan into the equation, lead me to the song "Ale`Japan" by Dave Rodgers, which is aggressively upbeat and :japan: as hell. I still have no idea where the word comes from and if it actually means what the game tells us.

"No I meant did the queen ever been here for last couple of days."

"Ah, right. Sorrie"

"Let me see..mmmmm, emmmm..."

"Where did he go? Oy~(Hey~)"

He left because you are retarded :ssh:

"(...) (...) (...)"

"Where am I~?"

Case in point.

This was a short glimpse at Mariel, and now you know what we are in for with her. :downs:

"Better not waste any more time."

Nah, let's waste a bit more time. After you have triggered the scenes for the girls, they also say some additional lines. Most of them are boring, but there is one that I consider to be funny.

"........"

"Caris? What's wrong?"

"Ummm~Have you ever seen a Factorian royalty around here?"

"Why you asking me?"

"Oh I am so sorry~ I must be losing my mind from the heat~"

"Maybe I should tell her to stop for today, thought she was strong against fire~"

:v:

Okay, now we can end our visit at Cellen..

...except that I want to pick up this item before that.

"Mm? Eye glass? Maybe that girl dropped here?"

"But she already left the town. I can't look for her now. I should keep it."

"All I got from endless walking under the sun are tanned skin and a fried brain of mine~"

"Oh stop it Caris. I'm getting images in my head~"

"So this is the end of trail..."

"Sessha too used X-Ray Vision, but could not find any clues, not even a single trap."

"So the queen didn't visit here."

"But this information came from the Prince Dyss. So she must been here at least."

"Anyway, I am tired now. Let's get some rest, we can't fight the Mahzoks under exhaustion."

"Alright then. Let's go back to Fina's home tomorrow."

So, yeah. The whole trip to Cellen was pointless, except for the introduction of Mariel. Isn't that great? But wait, it gets better! Now we'll see a pretty long conversation full of speculation and without any real development. Yay! Well, at least we'll get a new direction at the end, so that's something right? :(

"But now sessha am totally clueless. Are there any other leads?"

"But none of the residents in Cellen knew the queen ever visited there."

"Now that's odd! According to the letter from Prince Dyss, her travel log indicated that she visited. So unless the prince was lying, the queen did come to the town."

"But I could not sense any hidden agenda from the town folks, so they weren't lying."

"Then we can just report to the prince, "We found nothing~" Right~"

"...If the prince really trust you, then the only way is to tell the truth."

"But I can't figure out 1 thing."

"What's that?"

"Between Cellen and Meldia, ships go back and forth at least once in every 5 days."

"That's right. I came to Volcana that route~"

"Eh? You knew?"

"It's a part of daily life to the people of Ernest."

"Hayami, now you made me a complete fool~"

"Sessha didn't mean it~"

"The Mahzoks don't need the ships, they can just warp to here'n there~"

"Oh yeah, that's right."

"Only the pure Mahzoks are able to warp..."

"A pure Mahzok?"

"Mahzoks lose most of their power once they materialize to our world. Their bodies are made of energy."

"That means they used their powers to transform their bodies from the energy form into materials?"

"That's what I used to know from my past experiences."

"If they come to this world in pure form, they exhaust most of their power and end up as weak as a little child. In some cases, they become as weak as cats and dogs."

"Cats and dogs!?"

"...That weak?"

"Maybe we can lure them all out into our turf'n bust them?"

"If they are so dumb, I wouldn't have to become the Sacred Dragoon. Because CHAOS would never come out of his realm, so I had to go there and fight him!"

"Sorry mom~ I was just saying."

"Anyway the Mahzoks can take over a low-class monster's body and reduce the power lost. We call it "Contact Mahzok", like the elves can "contact" with the Elementals and merge."

"Which means...all these time we were fighting with Pure Mahzoks with reduced power!?"

"That means the one we fought back in the elven mine too!?"

"Correct. They were using only half of their strength during the battle."

"You gotta be KIDDIN-!"

"Even with the power of High Valkyrie, it wasn't easy to beat that Raymah, but what if he uses..."

"It can't be..."

"Hold on for a second...Then how come all pure Mahzoks aren't taking over monsters?"

"They would have conquered this world very easily by just becoming the Contact Mahzoks!"

"Good observation, Latyss. Taking over other bodies has 1 critical flaw."

"?"

"If the host can't withstand their big power, both the Mahzok and the hosted monster will die."

"I see..no matter how powerful the Mahzok, it can't just take over any body."

"So only the weak Mahzoks can become Contact Mahzok."

"So you see, unless they are 100% positive about the safety, none will dare to engage contact."

"That means the Mahzoks are plotting to search for the ultimate body or even creating one!?"

"No! We are doomed!"

"But they even chose NOT to take over dragons, the strongest race. I think nothing in this world can."

"But if not the bodies, then what else they're looking for? Something even worse?"

"Hey, Ryle. What's the real purpose for taking over Factoria then?"

"Hm!?"

"I don't remember seeing any Mahzoks when we were fighting with the White Ninjas..."

"Besides ninjas, all we saw were a bunch of regular monsters."

"The queen could have sent the Mahzok force to easily overpower us."

"That's very true! Xaktor lured us into the castle so he could eliminate Ryle Dono! If she was indeed Mahzok, then she could've just easily knocked our heads off by herself..."

"Are we being manipulated by the Mahzoks then?"

"Being used?"

"Or there's a traitor among them."

"...!"

"Inside conflict among the Mahzoks?"

"That's possible...they are not really good at uniting force."

"...."

"At any rate, we can't continue our mission like this."

"Arg! Then those green Dragons died in vain!!"

"..."

"From...me?"

"I want you to deliver a letter to Meldia Castle."

"But we have to report back to Factoria."

"If you contact the prince now, the queen will definitely pull some strings to trap you. In worst case, it might involve another major kingdom like Meldia into a messy situation."

"Dear Ryle, let's go to Meldia first. In case something happens, you can just warp to Factoria instantly."

"You got any idea how FAR from here to the capital of Meldia?"

"The map indicates couple of towns before the capital. You can just warp back after that."

"Caris is right. That's one of my reasons to send you there."

"I agree. We need to warp access as many places as possible."

"She's right. We can't just wander around the world indefinitely."

"So come on. Dear Ryle."

"Then sessha can go report to the prince while Ryle Dono is going to Meldia..."

"Don't! It's too dangerous for you to go alone suppose the queen is really a Mahzok. What if she brainwashes you and turn against your own friends? That's quite a possibility."

"Mom's right on that. Just being a hostage will be a huge disadvantage to us."

"That's for sure..."

"Since we know the Mahzoks are involved, there's no guarantee that even Meldia is safe..."

"But Factoria is the worse for sure, the queen is behind everything and nobody can stop her."

"I agree. There might be others involved as well."

"Other Mahzoks besides the queen?"

"They are very realistic, they would not come to this world unless they're very confident. Not only that this time they even expose their activity on surface..."

"I bet something else much more powerful is ordering the queen!"

"Mom...it might be CHAOS?"

"No, not CHAOS this time. I should have sensed its massive power if it's involved."

"Maybe something other than CHAOS, a new threat..."

"So you better notify Meldia to get ready for possible Mahzok invasion."

"But I'm not sure if they would believe us, they might kick us out before we even reach the gate?"

"Current king and queen of Meldia used to be my old comrades. I'm sure they will help you."

"King Zestrum and Queen Meldyss? so they too fought along with Flare!"

"Would you accept my request?"

"Yes, in that case."

"Thank you."

:toot:

"Oh, be careful at the place called "Gold Bar Tunnel". The place is full of undead..."

"Eek-!!"

"Although I can just skip the place with Teleport, you better go without Fina or she'll freeze."

Aaaahhh, so many words :bang:

Okay, we have learned a bit about the Mahzoks and have a new goal, but the majority of those words were pointless bullshit that just kept circling around itself. In fact, this whole update was pretty much pointless except for Mariel and our new goal. Couldn't this have been trimmed down? gently caress, my brain feels like cotton after transcribing, and I'll sure as heck will hit the town later and get drunk. I also didn't comment on anything during the last scene, despite there being a few points where I probably should have. But I really didn't want to heap more words on that mountain, you understand, right? :)

Well, gently caress this. I'm kinda mad about the insignificance of this update, so I'll leave the closing words to Caris.

99.9% of the time it'd be written 'are', but I guess you can technically make the argument of r/l equivalence. But yes, it does mean 'huh?'

I honestly expect that most people just skimmed over it. You're also not missing anything. The gist is that Cellen was a bust, so we just do something else now and hope to stumble upon more plot along the way. There, that is all that you need to know from that conversation.

Also, I'm currently finishing the next update, and the game gets wacky again. Was about drat time :)

The New Girl

With nothing better to do, we set out to travel towards Meldia and deliver that letter.

:ghost:

This place is very straight forward, with a few chests placed along the way.

They only contain healing items though.

If you have Fina in your party while being in here, she'll suffer from the "Fear" status effect.

It prevents her from acting during combat :qq:

As expected, you'll encounter undead enemies in here. Skeletons are pushovers, and drop lovely swords from the beginning of the game.

Wisps are a bit more dangerous, since they can cast sleep on your party.

After some steps...

...we stumble upon this.

"Mm!? Over there!"

"She's under attack!"

"Save her! Hurry up!"

"Let sessha take care of this!"

"Wait! She's been keeping safe distance from the monster. She's handling well."

"And she doesn't look like in panic either."

"But I don't see her moving! Maybe she's seized in fear!"

"Anyway let's go help her!"

"I say let's get outta here quick!"

"Sorryyyyyyyy!!"

Fina has the worst day inside this cave :v:

"Oh no! The zombie!"

"I can't cast the spell on time!"

"Could you please let me pass?"

"*sniff* Woo~ I forgot you can't understand my language, sorrie~"

"I got no choice then! Better scare you away!"

Suddenly, guns!

"Is that!?"

"Oops! I didn't mean to hit you."

"Instead she hit right on the exact lethal spot~"

"She...She's quite good~"

"Wow..."

"If sessha am right..that's a "gun"..."

"Anyway...let's talk to her."

"W-Wait for me~"

"Are you alright?"

"Oh! There you are! I finally found you!!"

"(Eek!! Bad timing..~)"

"Why did you ditch me without a word back in Cellen? I've been looking all over for you!"

"...~"

This can only lead to good things for Ryle :ohdear:

"It seems she knows you quite well~"

"You know her?"

"Cellen? Did you meet her over there?"

"Waaaaa! Zombies~ Ghosts~"

:owned:

"Woo..~ *sniff* You are so cruel~ All of ya!"

"Why...everyone's making angry faces?"

"(She got no clue what's going on.)"

"So you were busy hitting on this girl while I was sweating'n working my rear end off!! Oh yes! You're so DEAD!!"

"Wait! I swear I was doing my job collecting information!! I didn't chase around girls~"

"I worked so hard to prove you that I'm not dragging everyone behind, but Dear Ryle how could you...~"

"Wait everyone~ It's a HUGE misunderstanding! I didn't fool around!"

"Explain to us very clearly. Or else..."

"So you were hitting on her back in Cellen!?"

"What do you mean by "hitting on"?..."

"I don't care! Let's just get outta here~"

"Now listen to me girls!"

"I was only asking questions to her! Nothing more!"

"He sure did came to me and we exchanged some words."

"That sounds like if I were actually hitting on you~"

"Arg! No more excuse!! Take my MORNING CALL!!"

"Noooooo~ Anything but that again!!"

"I...trusted you..."

"Oh come on, not that weepy face again!"

This is one of the few cracks in the fourth wall that I actually like. Also, this whole scene is pretty refreshing after all the serious plot things we went through during the last updates.

"Hell no! Why did you look for me? What for?"

"Ah, almost forgot! You know I tried to recall if the queen ever visited Cellen. But I only stayed there for 2 days, so how could I know? Therefore I wanted to tell you that..."

"You came all the way here just for telling me THAT!?"

Yeah. She left Cellen to tell us that she couldn't have known about the Queen, and coincidentally ended up in the same zombie-cave as us. Makes total sense :downs:

"Yes! A ship happened to come by so I was on board and ended up here."

The whole crew does a round of dot responses to show how utterly their mind is blown right now. Except for..

:v:

"What~? Did I say something wrong?"

"What KIND of creature is she?"

"But I remained at Cellen after I met her."

"And she was able to chase you this far~"

"Umm, can anyone tell me what "hitting on" means?"

"You even came to such a dangerous place alone just for doing this!? What were you thinking!?"

"Ah? Please don't ignore sessha~"

"Right, I said that's why I followed you here."

HOW COULD YOU HAVE POSSIBLY KNOWN WHERE WE ARE? :argh:

"But you should've just told me back there, I stayed for couple more days."

"Whaaat? You were!?"

We actually just spent a single day and night at Cellen, but who am I to dig for plot-holes? :)

"Woo~ *tears, lots of tears~*"

"What's wrong with her?"

"She's shocked..."

"More like petrified."

"We better leave here, soon more will show up."

"We got a much tougher one to deal with right now, Latyss..."

"Are...you alright? Anyway, you can't just travel here alone, please come with us."

"Thank youu :h: "

"Dear Ryle, are you sure?"

"What else can I do?"

Just walk away from it all, and start a quiet life as a boat maker :allears:

"..whew. I am getting tired of all this~"

"Me too~"

"So what does "hitting on" mean at the end?"

"Just get out of here first."

"My name is Mariel Shells. Nice to meet all of you."

"Ryle Laster. Nice meeting you too~"

:toot:

Since I grabbed the glasses that she lost at Cellen, there is also a small addition to this scene.

There is no reason to keep the glasses.

"Mariel...right? I picked up your eyeglass back there."

"Oh! My spare glass!"

"So you found them?"

"(Anyone can see that I mean they were sitting right on the middle of street~)"

"But you shouldn't have. I got plenty of spares you know?"

"You do?"

"So far I lost total of 325 times. That's why I always carry at least 10 with me."

"So the one I picked up is only 1 out of 325..~"

"But you are the first person who actually returned the glass! I am so happy!"

:3:

Att 21 >>> 23

So this is Mariel - A nerdy inventor/gadgeteer girl. She's also severely retarded. I'm sorry if my usage of the word offends you, but I really have no better way to describe her character. She will constantly switch between being confused or crying at the drop of a hat, while being competent when the game demands it. But that's pretty much par for the course so far, right?

When it comes to combat, she's kind of a jack of all trades.

She has some utility skills, thunder & earth attacks, and skills related to her gun.

Speaking of guns..

...she is only person that can use this weapon class.

Oh, remember that weird item I found on the Slime Island?

More nerd power!

Before we leave this cave, Caris uses her Hidden Crash skill to stop a Mimic that only drops Xp.

"Hurmph! They just never learn!"

After leaving the cave, we have a new area to explore.

Though, we can only enter Sea Mar Port for now. We need to take a boat to Meldia, which wasn't really mentioned so far.

I also meet new enemies that don't have any special skills.

I honestly would be willing to give them some of my women. Let's see how long they can stand them :v:

Speaking of combat..

..Orubia learned a new water attack.

Thank you for that nice greeting, singing Santa.

The traders in town don't offer anything new, so let's just deal with the people around.

You better keep practicing.

This girl will trigger a scene for Caris.

Hoho, this is going to be good :munch:

"Huh?"

"W-Why you say that~?"

"Mommy told me when boys and girls together they are love couple."

"(That's not right! Which means brothers and sisters will be lovers too~)"

Stop. Don't even think about going there! :ohdear:

"Am I right~? *Making more curious look*"

"It's different. First of all I don't like him that much..."

"(Maybe that's true, but somehow I feel a little sad...)"

Haha, the ownage is off the charts!

"WHAT!!?"

"Stop it! You shouldn't yell at her! She's just a kid!?"

"I may not be as fancy as some noble ladies, but mistaken me as "man"...that's too much!!"

"Oh come on! She doesn't know anything!"

"I was just correcting her wrong information! So she won't do it again!"

"Come on! Snap out of it!"

"Oh, I know! You're doing "lover's fight". So are married couple-!!"

"...."

"...."

"....*blushing*"

"....*blushing*"

".....*still blushing*"

"....*still blushing*"

"I know...children nowadays are lack of manners geez! *shrugs*"

Caris recoiled back in surprise :3:

"It wasn't me..."

Random tranny joke. Cool. :wtc:

"See I told you..."

"Oh...right...."

"Bakaaaaaaaaaaaa!! (fool!)"

A cute scene with Caris can only end in one way. :v:

"That was far more powerful than...the falling rocks back in the mine.."

Att 29 >>> 32

Just to confirm that I wasn't making a joke about this particular NPC.

We're almost done with the city, but there is one neat thing that I want to point out.

If you use the buttons in the Pub, the bartender will warp from one stall to the other. He'll switch from being a talky person, to an Innkeeper. Dunno, I just think that is cool.

Sucks to be you, I guess?

Let's hit the docks and look for a ship that will get us out of here.

"You see we can't take off because that Lighthouse has been occupied by some thugs from nowhere!"

Oh no, what a surprise!

"Occupied? What kind of idiots would occupy a lighthouse?"

"Occupied? Not enough workers over there?"

"Not the "busy" occupied, but the "taken over" occupied."

"Oh, that occupied~"

"(You two stop embarrassing us~)"

"Mariel, be quiet for a while! We can't go on with the real conversation here...~"

"Lady Mariel! Please don't cry here~"

"How about during the daylight? The ship still can sail?"

"We can't! Due to the cargo weight, it takes a whole day to reach Taru Taru Port. Not only that, we need the special light from the lighthouse, which drives away the sea monsters. Otherwise, there's no guarantee for safety."

"The bottomline is..."Somebody must free the lighthouse"...isn't it?"

Yay, quest added!

"Correct. We already sent the troops up there. But the enemies seem to be holding pretty long."

"I got no choice then! We'll go and free the lighthouse!"

"What?~ You? *pointing finger* Stop fooling around! I mean what can a bunch of gals and only 1 guy DO!?"

"So~ You wanna see our moves?"

"Want more?"

"Y-You lady are strong, I got that now, so don't try out on me again! Don't you know the ship can't sail without me?"

"Don't worry. I can heal you."

"That's not the point."

"Enough of chatting. Can we go now?"

"By the way, can you tell me how to get in? Also how to use the light?"

This is a not so subtle mask for flipping an internal switch. You can't enter the lighthouse before triggering this.

"Orubia, have you memorized?"

Didn't the game just say that Ryle memorized this information?

"Yup!"

I guess he wants her to feel useful :v:

VOTE :siren:

Please pick three girls that will accompany Ryle into the lighthouse! Also, here are the current standings. So if you really care about the Att levels, keep them in mind when making your choice.

Latyss, Hayami, Mariel

I'm amazed Hayami doesn't understand the concept of "hitting on" somebody, considering she's a kunoichi and that was probably one of her duties as a spy/assassin.
Right I'm sorry I'm applying logic to this game, ignore me.

I think her glasses are filling up. Hell, it even looks like she has little window wipers on them, which.....makes so little sense it's not out of place at all in this game.

Thanks for the info. It was really out of place, and made me say "wat" out loud while playing. I'll just attribute most of the questionable lines to rm2kfanboy from now on. :v:

Guess Who's Back?

Our merry gang sets out, to take care of the dastardly bandits in the lighthouse.

Well, the place looks nice enough from the outside.

What horrors may lurk within? :ohdear:

"I better find the other way around."

Oh no, we are stopped by an evil signpost! Since our magic and fighting skills are no match for it, we have to head down into the basement. Curses be upon your foul tricks, evil signpost! :irony:

This is another one of those "Walk along" dungeons the game loves so much. There isn't much about it, and we've already seen the enemies before. Well, there are pesky arrow traps in here. But -10Hp per hit is nothing to worry about anymore.

Have the animation for Mariel's starting gun skill.

It's a cheap and okay attack, but quickly falls off against beefier foes. Her stone and thunder attacks have generic animations, but are much more useful.

There's a bit of treasure on the way.

This is for Hayami.

After some more walking...

...we meet some Smurfs?

"!! So they are the ones who occupied the place!"

Meet our foes for this dungeon - The blue rogues. They have like 300hp, a crappy melee attack, and a buff skill.

It gives them a very small boost to all attributes, but it's really nothing amazing. Honestly, the rogues suck. You just spam your good skills for a couple of rounds, and that's it.

:getout:

I keep trucking along until...

"Sylph! Help me get rid of this wind! REACT-WIND-!!"

"You neutralized the current!"

"It's done."

I really have no idea what the point to these wind barriers is? If you don't have Latyss in your party, you just switch her in and truck along.

More rogues are encountered, and killed swiftly.

This dungeon is very exciting.

"These fighters...their eyes are not evil..."

You might want to roll another Sense Motive check there, pal. :tinfoil:

Aside from a save point, their room also holds another chest.

Another item for Hayami.

And since we're already talking about her..

The thugs we saw on the overworld are also in here, and can drop a sword for her. I grind for a moment since Hayami can dual wield this one. Jfyi, she's still using the rock-cutter thingy from the beginning of the game, so it's really time for an upgrade. Jeez, with all this ninja-gear and the traps, it's almost like you're supposed to use Hayami in here :)

On we go!

Suddenly, the lever moves..

"The platform! It's moving!"

:argh:

"No!"

"!! Not so fast!"

"!! Hayami! What are you...!?"

She's doing a bad-rear end ninja jump, that's what. :colbert:

"Out of sessha's way! You've already failed!"

"We are professional fighters! Fight to the death is our way!"

"!!?"

Yeah, it's game over if Hayami fails here. But a single rogue is no problem.

Not even with an opening hit like that.

Hayami pulls through, and finishes with style and correct spelling :v:

"Pro mercenary? Could it be...!! Not now! I better send back the platform!"

"Sessha's glad being able to help everyone! Let's get going!"

Since Hayami just did a cool thing, I quickly let her in the party to grab her new gear.

:3:

The new swords are quite the upgrade. And yes, I still have the bugged second copy of the rock-cutter, and can never get rid of it.

I can already see it flapping in the wind :japan:

And the scroll teaches her a skill of questionable value.

Back into the the Warp with you, Hayami.

:qq:

The rest of the dungeon is basically more arrow-traps, wind barriers, and walking.

So let's skip that.

The sign says that this is the control-room. I also want to point out, that the stairs from the beginning don't even connect to this place. Makes you think, doesn't it?

"Don't move! Resistance is futile!"

"You should realize by now that you don't stand a chance alone..!"

"Tell us what is your purpose of cutting the route between here and Meldia!"

"Why you have to do such bad deeds?!"

"Is it really that bad?"

"(Come to think of it! I didn't have to bring Mariel here!)"

"Your life will be spared if you cooperate with us to reactivate the lights."

"We are pros! No way we will surrender!!"

I really have no idea what's going on. He just makes a flash happen, I guess?

"!!"

"The Blue Rogues!? They are a famous mercenary group similar to White Shinobi!"

"Hmm? You are one of White Shinobi! Then you should understand our situation. We are competing in the same market."

"Sessha want to avoid any conflicts if possible! But sessha knows..."

"You have to defeat me in order to complete your mission!"

"This guy...is just following the orders from his clients! That's why I didn't sense any evil..."

"It's the iron law of us mercenaries! Using any means to reach the goals! You all must die here!!"

That's a Gundam. That's a loving Gundam with a shotgun :wtc:

"Surrender or else!"

"This is my job! I won't let you end my career!"

"Can't believe you calling this sort of illegal activity..a "job"!?"

"You are a bad boy! Shame on you!"

"Sylph! Use your full power!!"

"If you don't back off, I'll hit your big tummy with my wind blades!"

This skill was already available to Latyss during her fight with Dierro. She lost it afterwards, for some mysterious reason?

Let me tell you something about Gonzales - He sucks just as much as his mooks did. His main skills are being beefy and having a high defense, and his attacks are crap. Well, he can cast silence, but that's really the limit of his powers. Yeah, he's a pitiful excuse for a boss.

:byewhore:

"What!? Then you were after us..."

"But that's too sad!"

"...*She's not sure what's going on*"

I really want to tell him to go back to Metal Gear Solid :thejoke:

"Can't you think about the others than yourself? What about those suffered by you?"

"Latyss' right about that! Respecting other lives is way more important than your pride!!"

"It's too late now...My fate is already sealed..."

"Why didn't you try change your fate rather than just accepting it!?"

"But you still have it! As long as you can breathe, plenty of opportunities await you!"

"I couldn't fulfill my client's wish, and the penalty will be...."

"What!?"

"Who was that!?"

"That voice..It's him!!"

DUN-DUN-DUN :siren:

"Now we finally meet again! Raymah!!"

"Long time no see, ladies & gentlemen. *smirks* I didn't anticipate such a quick recognition~"

"You...!!"

"It was you behind all this!! Now that's cheap, using others without fighting by your own!"

"As you wish my lady~! It would be my pleasure~"

"!!"

"Watch out!! Caris!"

"Ah!?"

With a sense for drama, Ryle leaps over and pushes Caris out of the way!

:stare:

"Arg! Ahhhh!!!"

"!!"

"Oh!!"

"What!?"

"Ah!!"

"!!"

"Eh?"

"Well, well, I didn't expect the 2nd prince would become your human shield...How noble...Kekeke!"

"Ryle!!! Nooooo!!"

"Mr. Ryle!!"

"Nooooo!!!"

"This...CAN'T BE!!!"

"...*collaps on knees*"
