And didn't. But somehow got graduated anyway. So, actually, no he wasn't doing ok on his own in school and his issues quite possibly WERE keeping him from graduating.

Benny is a dude who has no problems pretending to have a hang over to avoid work, throw his coworkers under the bus after promising to cover him and flat out lies to his bosses about damaging cars. He can't work 20 hours a week without being completely exhausted. He still believes he's going to get some sort of writing job despite being incapable of writing movie reviews that aren't riddled with grammar and logical mistakes. The thread had to scream at him to go back to the doctor and get new meds. Having Benny be able to make a grilled cheese sandwich without burning down his mom's house is probably the most we can ask for right now.

Benny, how's the family been? Seems like forever since we've heard about them. Are they still riding your rear end? Have the comic books been thrown out? Has the TV been locked on the Disney channel and the remote thrown out yet?

Do you feel better/worse than the last time you posted? How many Seuss posts do you have left for the political cartoon thread?

Te Amo means "I love you" Just hold his hand and tell him that.

This ends up being the tactic used by family members when they want to kill an elderly relative. They see Benny at the window, half dressed since his mother was at work, knocking and just... staring. And they know. They know it's time to go.

"Te amo" has more of a romantic connotation, "te quiero" / "te quiero con todo mi corazon" is more appropriate when referring to familia.

Good luck and be careful! Sorry to hear about the accident. Are you going to be in direct care of him? Learning some more Spanish would probably deliver a nice confidence boost and the feeling of accomplishment, similar to what you get from writing. You don't even have to try. Languages are one of those things you let sink in. Have your grandfather point to poo poo and say it in Spanish. Even if you don't learn a lot right away, you may find yourself recalling some of the information, later.

It was a generational thing why my parents never taught me Spanish and I tried to learn it on my own with classes but it's really difficult to learn a second language after 13. It seems like "I love you with all of my heart" is a valid translation of that phrase many Spanish speaking places. A quick Google indicates that quiero really is the more appropriate word to use with family (depending on location), even though a literal translation to English sounds weird.

Yea Ben, do something physical. You'll have more energy to deal with all the bullshit in your life. Trust me, it helps. My life is a pile of poo poo, right now. Work is grinding me to the core and just when I think I'm about to snap, I hit the gym and it absolutely recharges my batteries. Before the gym, I'll be asking myself how much longer I can possibly go on like this. After the gym, I feel like I can keep trucking for as long as it takes to find a way out. I know, I'm projecting. gently caress it, I don't have time to see a therapist and this week has been a shitstorm. Hit the sidewalk, Benny! I promise if you break a sweat, you'll have more energy to face your deamons, instead of putting them off till another day. I speak from experience.
