This new company's tanking morale at an astounding rate. 3/5 of the original team will be gone in less than six months, taking a combined 30 years worth of institutional knowledge with them. I can't :ytoj: fast enough.

If you're going to leave anyhow, do everything you can to either refuse or be compensated for this.

Then what probably happened is that they either redirected a 1-to-1 NAT policy to the wrong box, or assigned the IP to the wrong mail server temporarily. Either way, glad to hear it's working again.

It was the worst possible time for it to happen, too, since I'm expecting a new job to email me sometime this morning.

Hahaha, like we're having a meeting about it. The email went out today and wants people for this weekend. No one has volunteered for weekend shifts, and my first, non-compensation questions have been unanswered.

None of us are going to work without pay.

If you drink scotch, you dont need to worry about a bottle opener.

So we've had two different sites this week have internet issues. The first one went over their bandwidth cap and started dropping packets. The second site ive been fighting with the ISP NOC and the government NOC both saying its a problem with our network. Today I managed to get a tech on the phone with the ISP who was willing to actually troubleshoot and not just do a standard 4 ping test and call it ok. After an hour on the phone I got him to check the policer for the site and low and behold, the site is being heavily QoS'd. Now I have a ticket in with the government NOC to confirm that yes, they are over bandwidth on this site too and upgrade it.

I was just looking at it and I suddenly got this urge to get inside. No, not just an urge - more than that. It was my destiny to be here; in the box.
Five phone calls have come in today from the same employee:

"The internet is too slow! It's just crawling! No, it's only for [particular 3rd party server they remote into]. No, everything else is fine. But the INTERNET is sloooooow."

I've explained that I have no input or control over whatever they're trying to do. She's the only one with the permission and credentials to contact them and I've told her five times to call them and report that the connection is slow. But still, every 45 minutes: "Engineering call 126 ASAP!"

She just called me again while I was writing this. I'm just going to ignore her.

Bonus: earlier I was accosted because I told our accountant that, no, there isn't a way to automatically make it to where your iPhone doesn't check for emails while you're in the building. Yes, I know your android used to do that.

Hello TLA and ETLA organizations*:

When you have a web site talking about who the gently caress you are, for the love of Christ, put what your acronym means on the landing page of your site.

Google "ITIL":

The first hit is the ITIL® Home whose brief description helpfully mentions IT Service Management (ITSM) but has no mention of ITIL.

Site number two mentions ITIL in the descriptor but doesn't say what it is.

Site number three: Only wikipedia gives the actual definition of ITIL. Thanks guys!

Comedy: Site number four is ITIL.org that gives ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) in its descriptor with the helpful: This site may be hacked
