OK this is kind of a longshot but I remember this really cool trippy video that used to play on late night MTV2 in the UK around 2006/7 and I cant remember the artist or song name for the life of me.
It was like a kaleidoscope with the band playing the song. I think it sounded a bit like something Tame Imapala would do.

The song name finally came to me, it was This Mess by Wolf & Cub

Quick googling did nothing so I'm asking here,

A week ago I saw a VEVO music video of a woman (maybe early 20s) singing along to a song wearing headphones in her bedroom. It was interlaced with her riding in the back of a car with a guy while they were finger gun shooting each other. The song itself is probably a recent indie song with a upbeat tempo of sorts.

This is really vague, I know, but the audio was really low. Hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about.

We have Mix Superstar for the Wii, and I heard this loop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6nwPkapGOQ. It sounded familiar to me, and I finally found out where/why: Back in 2000, somebody on the SA forums (no idea who) had a band and shared an EP he made, and I found it in my "Old SA poo poo" folder. The band/project was "Joylab", the EP was "The Infinity Machine", and the song (which contains this same loop) was "All the Time" (hosted here: http://www1.zippyshare.com/v/74805909/file.html).
So this loop is at least 13 years old, and I don't think that Digital Leisure poached some SA forums user's music, so...maybe it's a loop that's public domain? Anyone know where this comes from originally?

I'm not identifying the song but the artist. This is Zappa, right?

I can't find anything on Google that links this to Zappa, but it just has to be him.

I'm not really looking to identify a song so much as a specific effect. The effect I'm looking for is a sound coming in, very quickly fading out, and then coming back in, if that makes sense. I want to say it's from a synthesizer, but I honestly have no clue. Anyway, I was watching Dexter DVDs today and the effect came up during a scene and I decided I had to know what it was. I'm linking to that scene because it's the most recent thing I've heard the effect in.

Yeah, pretty much any instrument with a really percussive attack (like a piano or plucked string instrument) sounds similar to that when a recording of it is played backwards. What you're interpreting as "quickly fading out" was originally the attack portion of the note, and what you're interpreting as "fading back in" was originally the fadeout of the note that the musician played before it. Movie and TV sound designers love that backwards-music effect to suggest a feeling of otherworldliness or mental instability.

Slightly unusual, but I know exactly what the sound of what I'm looking for is.

It's something that samples the opening bars of "Bonnie K" by The Nice (Spotify link) as a loop.

I feel like one or more of the following is true:
  • It was in the later part of the whole song, and not the primary/starting melody.
  • There was some droll instructional sample of a male voice laid over it, maybe about records.
  • Maybe the loop of the organ riff gets sped up faster and faster before it switches out.
  • The sampler was some goofy C-tier big beat like The Wiseguys or Bentley Rhythm Ace.

I don't know if I even own the song, Whosampled.com doesn't turn up anything and no combination of "The Nice" or "Bonnie K" or "Music" or "Sample" turn anything up. I don't know if it was actually a song or just something slipped into the back end of a DJ mix, and if it was a song it might have been some trifle of a B-side that even a fan of the sampler would have trouble remembering.

I am at a loss and knowing what exactly how it goes is making it even worse.

I've been trying to remember a song, though I may be thinking of the album as a whole. It was posted somewhere on SA around 1-2 years ago. Specifically, it was a South American band, maybe Argentinian, and I think it was an instrumental piece where either the whole song was written to be played backwards or it reverses halfway through.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I honestly can't remember any more detail. I hope I'm not just imagining it, because I remember it sounding neat.

This has been bugging me for a few years, I can only remember the beat but no words. It's from 2002 or 2003. Its a house-type song, the music video features a go go dancer / or just a really hot girl who has a purple corset type thing on on dancing through the streets of what looks like New York. Got played quite a bit around the same time as Get you alone by robin thicke.

Cacati in mano e pigliati a schiaffi!

Im looking for a song that is very Poison the Well -ish. The songs chorus has a guy singing something that sounds like "the one...thing I ant get into, never stop moving".

Then some screaming that sounds like "once again, I failed myself"

I heard it late night years and years ago sandwhich between a song from stretch armstrong and poison the well's Artist rendering of me.

Please tell me someone at least has an idea? Timeframe should be early 2000's hardcore.

I just heard a song with a solo male vocalist. It seemed like the main chorus was "till the end, till the end". The "till the" was short, and the "end" was held for three downwards descending notes. There was a part after it that I couldn't hear the lyrics to that was also part of the chorus.

The whole thing sounded a bit like this:

I'm looking for a song I heard on pandora a few days ago. It was an older hip hop song detailing various ways to scam money. I've been doing whatever I can but I have nothing to go on...

I was listening to the Royksopp pandora station, and this one song came on with female vocals that weren't exactly in sync with the music, and it gave it this sort of interesting dissonant effect. Being on the Royksopp station, the song had an electronic beat, it was really good too...I just can't remember how it went. The first time I heard it, I was in the twilight stage of sleep, and I barely managed to read the band/title before passing out, the second time, I was too high to remember the name.

For some reason the word "Submarine" comes up when I think about the song, but I don't know if it's the artist or the song or what.

There's a song that comes on over the PA at work at least once a night, I really like it but I can never get it ID'd through my phone and no lyrics site seems to have it in their database.

The three lyric phrases that stand out when I hear the song are, "Look into my eyes and I think you'll be surprised", "I can do anything anybody can do", and "there'll always be room enough for you".

It's sung by a woman with a very light voice.

I'm not sure if this has been answered to your satisfaction yet, but that sounds similar in theme to "Fat Cats, Bigga Fish" by The Coup. Of course, that song also has a really easily identifiable refrain ("Get down, get down, get dooown!").
