Well, that was fun. Bonus: I fixed my $20 jeep CD deck last night and listened to music all the way to work today instead of obnoxious ads. Didn't need the AC since I hit the road at 6AM, but it works now, thanks to Black88GTA, who is awesome. Apparently I have a very slow leak and it just needed freon, now that it has UV dye in it I MIGHT find and fix the leak when I pull the HVAC box to do the heater core. This is not funny, will probably get me in poo poo with my neighbors, and if it is ever repeated we will not be having another meet at my place. That is all. Tractors through the woods: cool, as long as it's not too close to the neighbors house. He loves tractors. Cars/jeeps through the woods, running over trees: NO Anyways. Junkyard wounds appear to be healing... man am I ever sore. Taking the floor out of an E350 with a 4 foot piece of iron pipe was good exercise but not the most effective method I've ever used.

I want INTERNETRACECAR behind me for the next run like that so I have someone along to help wait for everyone else. Y'all need to speed up  The best part is that every single one of those is a legal right of way, so any plated vehicle can run them. They're really tame as far as offroading is concerned (hell, they could be considered onroading, due to their status as town roads) but that just means going faster and faster until they are challenging/fun again.

So I went to my first motorsports event today. I didn't have anything planned for the weekend so I stopped by the New England Dragway. I have to say I don't think I ever really understood how loud an engine could be without any kind of real exhaust before today. It was a Ford weekend, but honestly I didn't really care what the event was, I was going to be up that way anyway and figured I'd check it out. There weren't a lot of extremely fast cars there, the fastest thing I saw was a 30's pickup which ran an 8.4. That thing was pretty incredible. There was also a car there from Tasca, who was sponsoring the event, which I think was significantly faster, but it never did a full run of the track. It had some kind of suspension difficulties. The couple of hundred feet it did do were pretty frightening though. It was significantly faster than that 8.4 pickup, and the air felt like it was shaking when it went by. I'll definitely be going back, preferably the next time they've got the really scary stuff running, like top fuel.

The amazing part is that we got the engine to turn (easily) again afterwards. If it weren't for the cracks in the #5 cylinder walls around the top from thermal stress I'd be building a 4.5L stroker out of it right now, after a .010 overbore (if that.) I'm likely hitting the junkyard Saturday with Ace if anyone's down, we'll be in the Honda section and likely the Jeep/Dodge section as well. And perhaps Monday with SiF as well since it's Labor Day and what the hell else are we gonna do with a free weekday off, work on our cars or something? e: possible lunchtime junkyard run with the coworker(s) tomorrow also, this time to Hollands in Billerica MA. Depends on weather and time availability. Sams Pull-a-Part is the expected venue. Come watch me severely injure myself and curse a lot.

That plane/car is looking pretty good! Quick recap of the week: I've been working full time for the ARNG in Augusta and haven't been on much because of it.  Sandbagger is still going. Not as much as before because of $$$ but I should be paid on wednesday.  The new Jeep house is almost built.

That thing was so incredibly filthy under the hood that I'm pretty sure blasting it with piss would have cleaned it up a bit. That's actually a "recycle" symbol, means they already punched a hole in the oil pan and gas tank to drain the fuel/oil but left the freon and coolant in it. :iamafag: e: I need to remember to bring grease pencils to the yard so I can mark parts I intend to come back for as bad. "ENGINE KNOCKS TRANS MISSING 5TH GEAR" come back 2 weeks later and huh, it's still there!

I dunno what was with the motorhomes. Probably a random thing, they put a 600 dollar bid on everything at the local auto auctions so they end up with anything that doesn't sell to someone else. An insurance agency specializing in rvs probably did their spring cleanout and sent all that crap to auction. Their prices depend on who you get at the counter, how their day is going, who you are, and what week it is. I've been charged double what I expected before, but also bought 380 bucks of poo poo for 130 because the stars aligned, so I don't really haggle at this point. (The latter example was because it was 5 minutes past closing, I was a 2-3 visit per week frequent flier at the time, and the cashier's day had gone well. They just wanted to close up and go home and didn't add everything up, just charged me for the rearend I had and said get out of here so I can lock up.)

Well, we left a day after the group pictured above. When mechanical problems of theirs forced them to turn back, we simply continued on. 8 or so hours on dirt roads through the most beautiful part of Vermont. gently caress yes. Have some pics. We were not fined.

Also we just took a hellride up a local road and ripped the exhausts off both my jeep and internetracecar's quantum. Found the quantum's exhaust on the way back, but the jeep's exhaust seems to have been launched into space. Oh, and the quantum lost power to the fuel pump and we had to do a quality redneck woods repair using a wire out of a subaru engine harness someone had in their trunk.
