I feel so proud to be a Manchester United fan today, because I can truly say that I know what it's like to be a real football fan of a mid-table club. No more of this "glory hunter" poo poo.

I usually watch just highlights because, in contrast to cricket or rugby, full games of football are rarely interesting enough. But I did enjoy Swansea last week, twice, in full. In their present form, who of the ManU squad would get into a starting XI at Swansea (apart from RvP of course)? Still, form fluctuates.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/zachsla...ave-been-lucky/ The bio of the author is excellent quote:I am a mechanical engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt by training, and have come to love the beautiful game in my adult life. I turned to my numerical training after becoming a Seattle Sounders FC and Arsenal supporter in 2009 in the hopes of accelerating my understanding of the new game I loved. I've been writing my own blog for over two years, and have written for such outlets as "The Tomkins Times", "The Transfer Price Index", and Howler Magazine. My goal is to advance the understanding of the English Premier League and Major League Soccer through numerical means.

Total Meatlove posted:I was attacking him more for the idea that you can boil football down to statistics than I was his methodology ninpo are you telling me you can't custom build a team say with a big man up front, speedy winger to feed him down the line, and a set piece specialist to win games? Because its not goals, its winning.

Total Meatlove posted:I was attacking him more for the idea that you can boil football down to statistics than I was his methodology ninpo quote:These colored rows represent outliers within the data tables. I also love some of his logic, "shots from inside the 6 yard box tend to go in, most of Spurs shots aren't taken from inside the 6 yard box, ergo Spurs are loving up because they should be shooting from inside the 6 yard box more." Whilst this is (kind of) accurate it's like the whole "the team with more possession wins 70% of matches so everyone should just focus on keeping possession" type logic. So it's not just pointless statistical analysis, it's poor pointless statistical analysis.

I know people debated the Ramsey one but I am fairly certain that this is a "that's the joke" moment. He's a prick but he's still allowed to make jokes.

In short Sturridge was excellent, you drive the Ferrari. Suarez, good to have back scoring, you take the Bugatti Veron. Toure, immense today, you can have the Lamborgini. Henderson and Moses, awful and clueless. You can both borrow my piece of poo poo Lada. There are sandwiches inside. Who will win this crazy racing? haha Arsenal - Will shut rivals and regain titles in your beautiful story. Liverpool - So reviled by history that has, or is just a co-adjuvant in PL again? Tottenham - Will surprise us?, PL wins this and shut up all the giants of England. Chelsea - Do not hit yet, Mourinho knows what he does. Manchester City - Time of money Manchester United - Very bad position for a giant of world football, will be the effect Ferguson? Ps.”No offense, team comments on mood.”

These are two viciously hungry strikers who live for goals. They are both capable of scoring 20 goals a season." heh
