Sounds like Claude Wayne isn't sure he can source any 100% Alabama veggie dogs.

Hah, that was me. :3: I figure by the time Doobie's is the #1 hot dog chain in the country and opens up their first Bay Area franchise they'll have added veggie dogs to the menu.

Hopefully someone will have figured out how to improve veggie dogs by then, because they are gross.

The last time I got excited for a kickstarter was Shadowrun Returns, which I ended up pledging $125 (and coincidentally just got my rewards in the mail yesterday). Unfortunately times have changed and I can only offer a meager amount, but just being part of this hilarious and awesome movement is worthwhile. Hotdog Philanthropists unite! I've dreamed of taking an American roadtrip someday, and I will be sure to swing through Reform, AL to be a patron to his business (or just to see the remnants if that's what it comes down to..)

Some of the ones found in supermarkets are terrible but I have had some amazing veggie dogs from food trucks. They can definitely be made right.

Next to nothing on his current income, this is probably gift income so..."doesn't matter"?

e: Seriously he should get some advice on how to deal with this extraneous income on tax forms. I'm sure there is something on KS to deal with this.

e: vv yeah

ChubbyPitbull posted:

Kickstarter has a guide on taxes. Looks like the upshot is 1) it's probably income; 2) if he spends it on the business, it's probably deductible; and 3) he may be able to claim it's a gift, in which case it's not taxable. I think he's got a decent case that most of the Frogout donations are gifts since we've all stated many times on his page that we don't expect to claim our rewards, but if anyone puts up an ad for the higher reward tiers, that's probably income.

If it's income, it just gets taxed at the normal rate, i.e. probably not very much because I can't imagine Claude Wayne is in a very high tax bracket.

Doobie's going to spend it all on hookers and blow. His wife will leave him, his kids will disown him. He will die face down in the gutter, alone, choking on a hot dog.

I know we're absolutely not about telling a guy how to run his crazy hot dog empire, but... I broke down and asked him how married he was to the processed cheese. The only real objections to his dogs that I've heard in this thread are the chilli and the cheese. He's already assured me that he will be using thicker, better, home-made chilli when he actually opens, but man... I just can't help but think that even to a Southern palate, some grated medium cheddar would do wonders for that dog.

Oh I know, and I have some oddly shameful food preferences too, I just figured maybe it would be both easy and economical to let people have the option.

I pitched in :10bux: yesterday and have been googling every once in a while since then, but it seems like only other things that comes up is a singer called Doobie "Doghouse" Wilson. In a way it's surprising, but in another it's kinda nice we can just fund this guy and have it just be a good deed without a whole lot of publicity. Hats off to the guy for following his dream.
