I wish I had stopped to take a picture, but I went to a wedding in CT a couple weeks ago. The route from Bradley Airport to the wedding in Lakeville had me driving through some pretty rural parts of CT. Along the way, I passed this Alfa Romeo garage that must've had ten or twelve Alfas of various models and eras parked outside. If I wasn't already running late, I definitely would've stopped to take a picture, and I wish I had. If you check the route Google Maps gives you from Bradley to Lakeville, anyone have any idea of the name of this place?

That's the one!! I had googled them but for some reason read their address as "Norwich", not "Norfolk", and thought "Nah, can't be them, Norwich is on the other side of the state." Thanks!

I like how much Eagle/DSM design can be seen in that car, especially with the raised thumbnail spoiler and the wheel design. And the front and rear just scream Dodge Stealth. Edit: In fact, the Stealth is basically just a two door version of the Portofino. BoostCreep fucked around with this message at 10:46 on Oct 3, 2013 |

I finally got to make a run up to the top of Pike's Peak a few months ago and man is it a fun drive. If you are ever even near it, I highly recommend it. It's amazing how little power a car has, even with a turbo, by the time you get up to 14,000 feet. In my little TDI I was actually having to keep it revved up to 3500-4000 rpms to have enough torque to pull up those hills. And those hairpins sneak up on you really fast, especially when you don't have both lanes to use like they do in the race. Oh ya, take a pair of pants and a jacket too, it was 85 at the start and 50 at the top with about 40mph wind gusts. The top is just a big flat spot.

Crazy how those things are all related to Lamborghini. I would respond to this with a bunch of pictures where those styling cues appeared on later mundane Chrysler products but i'd be worried IOwnCalculus would put me on probation again for posting stuff that was not Awesome/AI enough. In an attempt to keep it reasonably awesome, here's a pic of a later 1998 concept that shares some styling lineage with the Portofino. The awesomeness doesn't come from the looks, though. This car was a diesel-electric hybrid with an electrically-shifted manual transmission and Nimh hybrid battery controlled using software developed on the old Patriot race car. This was in 1998. 15 years later, a diesel-electric hybrid is currently the most fuel-efficient hybrid in production (VW XL1), electrically shifted manuals are commonplace and absolutely de riguer for supercars, nimh batteries are in literally millions of hybrids on the road today including the Insight and Prius i own, and the flywheel and software technology of the patriot race car is now known as KERS in F1 racing. That's a whole lot of foreshadowing of future awesomeness in one car. And it was a real thing, journalists drove it! Vigo327 fucked around with this message at 01:06 on Oct 4, 2013 |

Just saw these parked downtown: I never actually knew there was a truck variant of the old school Mini until today. There was also another one across the street, parked behind the local Mini that the British owner of the British restaurant owns. 4 Minis in rural Arkansas is a sight to see, to the point where I wasn't the only one stopping to look

I did a bike tour from Seattle to San Fran. These are the coolest 2 cars I saw. Drag prepped Roadrunner at the public library in some tiny coastal town. I missed the dude who stepped out and drove it off. But I did hear it tearing away Walking around San Fran, decided to take an alleyway to get back on Market. Lo and behold: More rare than cool, but I was amazed to see one.
