Thanks, downloading now. 476MB Hopefully the actual service isn't IP blocked and we can just run it this way. Don't know how often I'd actually buy a pass, but it seems like a really cool thing to have around. E: it works fine Box of Bunnies fucked around with this message at 11:26 on Oct 4, 2013 |

Hyper Light Drifter has reached its kickstarter WiiU stretch goal, you can now look forward to downloading this from the eshop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmMosNHhyxI You may remember Teslagrad from a recent Nintendo Direct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGhe_zEt9-E You can download a PC demo right now, shaping up to be a great metroidvania and I think I'll buy it as soon as its on the eshop.

PAL update (week of November 7):quote:WII U RETAIL DOWNLOADS NA update (week of November 7): quote:WII U RETAIL DOWNLOADS For those who don't know, here's the deal with Wii Sports Club: it's a HD remake of Wii Sports with MotionPlus support, online play, Miiverse "clubs" and some other junk. The initial download includes a free 24-hour "day pass" that lets you sample the available sports, but once that expires you'll have to either buy the individual sports you want or purchase another day pass. Tennis and bowling are the only sports that will be available at launch, but they said they'll be rolling out the others soon, and that you'll get another free day pass whenever they add a new sport. Most of you won't care about KORG M01D, and those of you who do probably don't need to be told how cool it is, so, uh... buy it, I guess. Well $40 is still cheaper than we can get it but a least I don't feel totally ripped off now. Speaking of AA5, do we have a UK price for that yet? And do I need to have played AAI1 and 2 to play AA5?
|
# ? Oct 7, 2013 17:06 |

Well it still isn't possible for English speakers to play AAI2, and they're spinoffs anyway so there probably won't be much that references them. You should still play AAI though, it could even tide you over until the new game is released!

I heard, but don't quote me, that it will be £19.99/€24.99 (the Euro price is confirmed, not sure on the UK price). I don't believe the AAI series is strictly required, but the two games are fantastic (IMO they're the best-paced Ace Attorney games) so you should play them anyway. There's an in-progress English patch of AAI2 that has the first two cases.

It's actually a really good price, I was expecting it to be like £29.99. (Then again I don't know if AA5 is the same length as the other games) Also seconding playing Ace Attorney Investigations, it's great.

I was actually expecting Apollo to lecture Phoenix at the end of case 4 about the true meaning of being a defense attorney since clearly phoenix had lost his way but nope. gently caress that game.

Allegedly this isn't entirely true, it's just the team that worked on the original Japanese release dissolved immediately following the release of AAI2 in Japan, complicating the possibility of an international release. It's true the series was waning in sales, though; Ace Attorney Investigations 1 only got an English release, and that was cited as due to a lack of sales of Ace Attorney 4. There's a finished fan patch for AAI in German and a half-finished (first two cases) one in French now.

Back when it first happened, a Capcom rep said that AAI sold less than Okamiden (itself not a huge seller.) Things may have changed since then but it was at least partially due to poor AAI sales.

You might want to keep in mind that, for the most part, you can't Streetpass between two different regions of the same game, with the one notable exception being the Mii Streetpass Plaza. When I took my NA 3DS to Australia, I tagged a bunch of people who had Fire Emblem Awakening as their last played game but exactly zero hits for my own copy. Of course, this isn't a problem if you don't get very many Streetpasses in the first place.

Yo PAL-land peeps, GAME UK will be selling Pokemon X/Y download codes for £34.99 (£10 less than buying directly from the eShop), and if you pre-order the eShop version you'll also get a free download code for Pokedex 3D Pro (RRP £13.49): http://www.game.co.uk/en/pokemon-x-200376 They're generally pretty quick about e-mailing your codes, from what I gather, and they've previously sent out codes before street date for a few games, too.

How would you go about buying that internationally? Like I know Australians on this forum have taken advantage of GAME UK and its codes before, but is there any requirements or hidden currency transaction fee involved with that?

Yeah I turned on my 3DS this morning and my ambassador Super Mario Bros. had disappeared, what the hell Nintendo. Oh wait no it's still there and I still didn't pay for it so other people being able to buy it or redeem Club Nintendo credit for it doesn't affect me in any way just like it didn't when it was first added to the eShop for regular sale.

I must've missed a patch or a Wii U feature or something, but while trying out some Wii VC games on the gamepad, I noticed that the games are actually in a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of stretched out across the TV/gamepad. Was this a recent development, or did the Wii U always do this? Wii Virtual Console, not Wii U.

If you had an old console hooked up to your widescreen monitor directly, you'd still have it displaying in 4:3, as all non-poo poo tvs have this option. wii VC ignoring the widescreen settings when 4:3 wiiware titles like contra and castlevania rebirth could handle it fine was just really poor design.
