I recognized him immediately, but just from his work in Venture Brothers. He was awesome in that and King of the Hill, but my favorite will always be him as Artie from Pete and Pete.

I was worried from the short trailer that I wouldn't like the animated version but actually that one grew on me :unsmith:

The human animal is a beautiful and terrible creature, capable of limitless compassion and unfathomable cruelty.
I would definitely not mind that Tenmen shirt Beef has on at the start.

Also in the vein of angry Achewood characters, a brief discussion about helicopters.

Pretty much, except after the hawk lands on their hands, one knight decapitates the other, eats the hawks heart, and then bangs a bare-breasted whore.

I argue that "Vagina Products McGyver" is a more perfect, more beautiful phrase than "cellar door"

This is probably one of my favorite strips in the entire comic, and I always feel a little touched by the last few panels.

I had been hesitating about it but I picked up the first two hard over collections after I heard how nice they were and good God are they slick. I'll pick up the third after my next paycheck, and while it'll probably be a longshot I'm kind of hoping we'll see more hardcover collections someday.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Todd Onstad's middle name? I wonder if there's a significance there.

Not even. Todd is a manifestation of pure id; he's the part of us that tells us to skip work and spend the entire day naked at our computer smoking weed and shitposting, then pick up the buddies and get drunk in the middle of the woods and bang a hooker. The difference between most of us and Todd is that we have other aspects that usually take precedence and keep us from doing these things; even the more id-driven of functional human beings are more like Lyle than Todd. Todd has nothing else.

Speaking of Pat, this strip is probably the only time I can think of where I actually agree with him wholeheartedly. Doesn't make Ray's counters any less funny, but I still think Pat is right in this situation.
