So I'm making a Let's Mod EU4 thread and PM'd a paradox moderator if it would be OK to publish it on Paradox Forums/Steam Workshop. I was pretty naive about the relationship of SA and paradox so his response was pretty funny.Castellon posted:We will not be associated with that forum in anyway. That's hilarious when we consider that a handful of Paradox Devs are goons now. I don't know what made their community manager so cranky about us, but I do remember that only a few months ago any URL to Something Awful was censored in their forums.

I think part of it is that SA used to have quite a bit of NWS content. Or maybe we're right about their forums running on an old PC beneath Johan's desk and they're still stinging over that.

Darkrenown and Johan should have read the SA ToS which they agreed to when they registered here more closely. It never said that by posting on here, they weren't legally giving us ownership of their wallpaper.  I have some great ideas for what wallpaper you should install instead. So my brother bought me Vicky II after years of trying to convince me to get into it, and I think I've got the hang of most of it. I played to 1880 as Argentina before realizing I couldn't get rid of my ruling party nonviolently and was falling behind enough to miss colonization and stuff entirely. I tried a few other powers but the USA and it's democracy/industrial base seems a little too much to start with, since I had so much fun/learned a lot industrializing Argentina. I realized that I was basically vexed by literacy and government type, so I decided to try a game as Sweden to see if I can make myself a nice little secondary/primary power. It seems like what I want to do is encourage cultural stuff until I can get primary, then sphere Denmark and create Scandinavia. I'm sorta trying to do that, but I guess I'm wondering a few things about how to deal with all this liberalism. So far I've been inculcating consciousness instead of militancy, hoping that I can institute reforms and then appoint a conservative party anyway until I can get to the point of state socialism. Is that the right idea? When people get too agitated I'll just send some soldiers there for awhile and my revolt risk seems nil, but people keep calling for the king's head and poo poo. I've already abandoned Finland and researched the first cultural prestige thing and now I'm moving on to the second. Should I keep going that way or maybe start looking at stuff for pop growth like medicine, then ideological stuff, then industrial stuff? A Also, should I go for 2% clergymen even though my lit is already above 50%? First thing I did was get admin to 100% everywhere via bureaucrats, and it seems like maybe encouraging artisans/laborers in preparation for industrialization might be better, but clergy also help me keep the conservative balance.

You should actually go for 4.0% Clergymen 2.0% is when the Research Point contribution from Clergymen caps out, but Clergymen will continue increase the rate of literacy gain until 4.0% And yes, more literacy is always better - you get more RP from literacy all the way to 100%, and I think you need somewhere in the area of 60-70% literacy for people start promoting naturally to Clerks, and further for Clerks to start promoting naturally to Capitalists.

Clergymen lower CON passively, but (and this might have been introduced in a later change) once the literacy gets up, the amount that literacy increases CON more than compensates for what the clergy do to lower it. If you're #8 in two things and decently ranked in the third (so like 16+?), you can just wait for a giant war between two powers to knock someone down a few pegs and then get promoted. Alternatively, just start promoting soldiers and build tanks. They seem to raise your military score most.

That guy has no control over the steam workshop, and for the paradox forums honestly I'd just try to go above him. He's just a volunteer mod, ask someone like Johan instead. As for what we did, err.... nothing? We've been involved in zero attacks on their forums so I don't know what he's talking about. Maybe he's just mad that we call them out on their posters' racism from time to time, but we never did any concentrated forum invasion bullshit or anything like that. Or maybe he's a big Magna Mundi/Ubik fanboy. Ubik got really mad at us before for not liking his mod. Considering Wiz has released on their forums some of the mods he developed for his SA LPs and then later got hired for his efforts, I'm pretty sure whatever beef he has with us doesn't mean poo poo.
