When my Pokemon is level 100, and I only train 4 EVs in Defense I will see one stat increase?* Your pokemon's Defense (or whatever) stat is calculated using a certain formula, and one of the variables in the formula is the number of EVs it has. Another variable is the pokemon's current level. This formula is set up so that when the pokemon is at level 100, every fourth EV in Defense causes the stat to rise by 1 (ignoring the effect of Natures). At other levels, the stat is approximately proportionally scaled (the approximation is worse at lower levels because there is a constant term). At level 50, for example, every eighth EV causes a stat to rise by 1 (still ignoring Natures).

The stat formula is (([IV+(Base Stat*2)+(EV/4)]*Level)/100)+5 Which then increases or reduces by 10% depending on the Pokemon's nature. So, for instance, let's say you have a level 21 Modest Pikachu, with an 18 Special attack IV with 200 EVs in Special Attack. Pikachu's base Special Attack is 50. 18+(50*2)+(200/4)*21/100+5 = 40 Then add 10% because it's modest and you get 44.

This is capped at .63 points per level (EVs are capped at 252).

Finally beat the E4 and got to that sweet A New Hope medal ceremony. I was using an Aegislash until I saw that it was apparently the most mainstream pokemon ever and was in everyone else's E4 team. Replaced it with Avalugg which surprised me by not being the worst pokemon ever, although I want a drat good reason why it can't learn Icicle Crash.

Man, Super Training is real easy compared to how things used to be, but I wish it was lefty-friendly. i have to prop my 3DS up on my left pinky, move the circle pad with my thumb and use the stylus with my right hand. After about an hour my Hawlucha has perfect EVs, but man my pinky is achin'.

Cute lil' gossip squirrel Or possibly being able to catch Yggdrasil itself. We already caught god, why not the Holder of all Being?

Alright, I know it's silly to talk about difficulty in a Pokemon game, as they are for kids, but can I just stop to mention the final battle with Lysandre ? Seriously, 4 Pokemon for the final showdown with the game's major villain? Ghetsis and Cyrus were pretty drat hard if you didn't grind at all, Lysandre was a pushover. It's also kind of lame that he uses the same 4 Pokemon for each battle, and the only major difference for the climactic showdown for the fate of the world is that he Mega Evolves the Gyrados and puts on a stupid looking robot suit. Love the game, it's fantastic, but this was a little disappointing.

Has anyone written up a guide for super training like how Ogen did for Pokemon Amie? Like what the purple sparks mean, the red goals, the yellow goals, timing for your high powered shots, what pattern to dodge in to miss the soccer balls, etc? Like an optimized time path to boost a stat? I'm slogging though it by spam tapping the screen, but I'd rather have a better idea what I'm doing. Also, has anyone found the EV reducing berries yet? I finally got some reset bags, but I'd rather target my mistrained Gible than do all of attack and most of speed over again

My lazy pokemon don't want to so anymore SP training; how can I fix this?

Gardevoir seems too slow and too squishy to be actually that good. Even neutral moves will most likely end up OHKOing her, and that's most of them. Am I missing something with her? Also pixellate on the mega seems awful, there aren't any good special normal moves that Gardevoir has access to, unless you can get Hypervoice or Boomburst or something from breeding, and even then they'd be competing with moonblast.
|
# ? Oct 19, 2013 19:34 |

So what is the point of Pixilate on Mega Gardevoir? It only turns normal moves into fairy moves, but there are barely any normal special moves. Is there some specific move I'm overlooking that it really benefits from?

Passerby's should not be able to give me critical power lvl 2 while I'm trying to get Mewtwo's hp down without utterly destroying it.

Once people have unlocked their third pokemon in the Friend Safari zone are hidden abilities unlocked permanently within the zone or do they only appear when that other person is online at the same time as you?

Gardevoir is probably #3 fairy after Togekiss and Clefable, and given its frailty that goes to show how few decent Fairies there are. The Mega Evolution deals with its Speed troubles, but not its crippling physical weakness which Aegislash in particular is going to love exploiting. Pixilate is almost useless - Hyper Voice has a niche in doubles and triples once Pokémon Bank is out, and Hyper Beam as a dumb gimmick, but other than that nothing. I'm still going to use it, because it's one of my favourite Pokémon, but still.

Like an optimized time path to boost a stat? A lot of it doesn't really lend itself to guide writing. The shots are almost certainly random from my fairly extensive experience with ST so patterns are out of the window. Red goals can be hit more than once, yellow means it's disappearing soon. Timing is all you, you grow into it. Just try to anticipate movement and fire when your shots are fully charged up. Optimum EV training is Horde encounters and Pokérus.

There's an old man that you can give one of your Pokemon to sometime in the story. If you come back after you beat the Elite 4, he's not there anymore and there's a Pokeball in the room with a note saying that he's sorry, he can't look after it anymore.
