That's, what, 1200 battles? I know it's 300 and 310 for the prereqs, which have prereqs of like 2x150 each...

Yeah, that's not a huge issue if you're willing to grind out the basic hearts. I also already have a drakslime heart from lucky panel so that rules out two pointless prereqs.

E: Andreal is a lucky panel heart so the only remotely hard part is grinding out the boltrat hearts. Hero and Gabo already have golem mastered so it's not like I wasn't going to do that when it becomes available. 500 FPS grinding really makes this poo poo less painful. 1255 fights that I haven't already done (and ~480 I already have, really not any worse than unlocking paladin for vacuum but I got rock throw instead) to get those 2 to PlatKing, not counting BoltRat farming that I can't start til Loomin because of the weird event flags for heart drops.

Uh... it's dated, to say the least. Expect to be severely disillusioned unless you have some serious nostalgia for trying to play an action RPG involving mouse gestures with character models with about as much fidelity as Cloud Strife Out Of Battle.

I was assuming mutant to mean from a human basepoint, which Shades functionally are not.

Edit: From a general storyline and gameplay standpoint they serve a very different purpose and have a different cadence from the general use of zombies and/or mutants, either way.

Well if you presume the intent of the question was to ask for a setting that would represent what the world would actually be like in real life if an apocalyptic disaster struck the earth, man made or otherwise, then Neir obviously doesn't qualify at all. I assume he wants a Postman-esque setting.

Good luck finding the Reloaded, fan-translated version though. I somehow got it to work but I honestly have no idea how.

What makes Rune Factory 4 special is that it's supposed to be for ages 7+.

Speaking of new games that may or may not be insufferably anime, anyone got much to say about The Guided Fate Paradox? It's out here today, I think (some places have the release date as today; others as Monday). The premise seemed vaguely interesting but never really bothered to look to far into it.

e; I probably won't be picking it up immediately even if it does turn out to be actually good or anything. I just saw a thing for it on Amazon and that reminded me about it.

It's supposed to play like ZHP for the PSP, which was NIS's take on a rougelike and pretty cool. Not digging the new super anime feel though, which supposedly was done because ZHP didn't feel enough like a Disgaea to the devs. Ugh.

New one (and 3) are better than Tides of Destiny in basically every respect.

You won't find much about it online yet - it's one of those rare RPGs that's hitting Europe first, rather than six months later. I've got it waiting for me at home, but I assume from all the ad blurb that it's going to play in a very similar way to ZHP - a Shiren-esque light roguelike with a lot of over-the-top effects and hopefully a similarly satisfying plot.

I played through it a few months ago and had an absolute blast. Some weirdness halfway in, but it recovers fairly quickly. I'd recommend going with Jude first, but it really doesn't matter.

All I know is "Winter", but I'm keeping an eye out for that one as well. I enjoyed the writing from the first few updates of the LP. I hope that it plays fine with mouse/keyboard.

I've never played Tides of Destiny, the last one I played was Save the Homeland and so far I'm liking this new one better. It is super anime but in a really adorable/charming way and it doesn't take itself seriously at all. I can't get over how much innuendo the writers managed to get past the ratings board.

It knows that its entire premise is loving ridiculous and just has fun with the whole concept. :D

A couple things:

- There are numerous missable sidequests. Some of them are just fluff, but a couple of them are actually interesting with regards to characters and such. If that sort of thing appeals to you, there are a few spoiler-free guides online for the quests and the point-of-no-return for them.

- Switch up characters; every character plays a little differently, and it's interesting to see their different abilities.

- I'd switch it up to 'Moderate' difficulty (or whatever the second-hardest is, I forget). I found it a good challenge without needing any grinding.

- Think about which skills you want from you Lillium orb, as later you (mild gameplay mechanic spoiler) get another orb (and maybe more later, I don't know) with better skills when you expand the first a certain number of times, so I'd make expanding it a priority. Figure out what three skills/abilities are worth going for in each tier.

Is there going to be any differences between the European and U.S. release of Bravely Default? I'm thinking of importing it since I've been waiting for a game like this since the D.S. release of FF4.

While chances are low that there will be any significant changes (I have no idea), keep in mind that the 3DS is region-protected, so you can't play EU games on a US system.

Maybe you have an EU system - if so, disregard.
