Thoogsby posted:https://soundcloud.com/goobermusic/too_hoodies I really like this beat. Maybe you could put a compressor on the samples and sidechain it to the drums if you wanted to keep them out of the way of each other if that's what you're looking for? https://soundcloud.com/666xdimension/knockedbad I want to get an opinion on this track, the form of it has really been bothering me but I can come up with anything satisfying.

Verror, I really like that! The mixing needs work, it was very quiet. But super cool arrangement and stuff! Here is something I did earlier today: https://soundcloud.com/seesub-1/behind-breakfast What do you guys think of where my sound is going? I've been hitting up fat Moog bass, mixing samples and synths, and layering drums more lately, and trying to focus on my mix etc. I think I've stepped it up with almost every beat I've made honestly

Had some pretty bad creative block lately. Made a beat yesterday and just finished one today. https://soundcloud.com/bananastraps/try-tone Does anyone have any tips for getting drums to stand out in a mix but not peak? I hear so many tracks on SoundCloud that are loud but don't clip, I need to look into that.

CharlesDexterWard posted:Had some pretty bad creative block lately. Made a beat yesterday and just finished one today. Use reductive mixing techniques rather than additive. For example once you have your elements working, pull the other elements down in the mix so the drums dominate. Then slowly reintroduce each element until the master channel is all just barely below the 0db mark. Then add EQ, compressor, and finally a limiter. This will give you the loudest possible master channel without clipping.

It's a different sample from the same song an octave below the main parts that's EQd/compressed/distorted to be a bass line.
