So there is this dumb riddle going on, and if you get it wrong you change your profile pic to a giraffe. This one girl I met had a giraffe as a pic, and curious about it, asked her if the answer was such and such, but that I had no intention of changing the pic because . I was not prepared for the response. Holy poo poo do people take their dares super seriously. As soon as I told her I really didn't want to commit to this whole giraffe thing, she went into hyper "gently caress OFF" mode, and told me I was super loving childish and didn't want to talk to me. I dunno, I mean I was confident enough (and right, as it turned out) that I could've taken the dare, but this did not matter, it was far too late. I apologized, and told her that I could still put a giraffe up there, despite being right. She said not to worry or something, but that still, she was pissed off. People are weird. I guess this makes me a coward or something? Chicken? ArfJason has a new favorite as of 02:43 on Nov 1, 2013 |

The guy who posted this is gay. The whole log cabin republican thing blows my mind. And I've mentioned it in this very thread before, but insurance providers are doing all kinds of shady things before they aren't allowed to pull this sneaky poo poo. It won't do any good to post in the above conversation and try to educate people though. Several of those people are the kind of people that get really offended if you try to educate them about little poo poo. I would have no clue how to talk about what insurance companies are doing without sounding like a pompous rear end. I think I might unfriend him. He's been kind of weird lately. Oh yeah, he's also had an ongoing back problem since I've known him, so around 6 or 7 years. I expect that's why the insurance company dropped him. I know they refused to pay for his needed surgery which would have saved them quite a bit a money, I think. Edit: Holy poo poo! I didn't even notice John Withawind's posts. It seems to me that a lot of them are cancelling plans because they're not going to be as profitable as they were within the previous years. Mine got dropped as well, but I still signed up for a similar plan, just with a slightly higher deductible (which I still probably won't meet next year, just like I didn't this year). Majority of the plans are the same for 2014 - they have to cover pre-existing conditions, cover in full for preventive care like immunizations, physicals, etc. by law, but the plans that insurance companies want most people to take, are the kinds that will not cover urgent care or emergency hospital visits until the deductible is met. The highest deductible for plans where I work for example is $1,750 USD. And for reference, I earn under poverty level, yearly. Weirdly, it's still better than the health insurance I was getting when I was on my parents' plan. I pay far less for medications and in copays.

Captain Pissweak posted:Has he considered the fact that his workplace might be composed of terribly lovely racists, and his initial offence was for good reason? Yeah, really. Even in the U.S., there's a possibility that a predominantly white corporate workplace would think it was a-okay for someone to wear blackface for Halloween. I could honestly see some people doing that at the old job I had, completely clueless as to why it's so bad. They also thanked Jesus for our little Thanksgiving party the one year that I could actually get to it. I saw one other person not bowing their head in prayer. She looked annoyed, I just had a poo poo-eating grin on my face because it was so weird to me. Of course, blackface would never fly on tv in the U.S., so that's something. Harry Connick Jr.'s response in that video was great.

I work in an all white office where we have a Toastmastes club. Someone was putting up posters to advertise the club and was making each poster based on an internet meme. One poster said, "Trouble with public speaking?" Then, had a picture of an African American woman saying, "Ain't nobody got time fo dat." At the time, I had never seen the video that it comes from, and I was shocked that someone would make such a poster. And, even after seeing the video, I still don't think it was appropriate. So, I completely believe that all white offices don't realize the racial implications of the things that happen in them.

She texted me yesterday and said that there were 3 people dressed up as Mexicans (sombreros and mustaches and all) and someone dressed as an Asian person (as well as a pimp and 3 people as zombies with full fake blood and everything). None of this would ever fly in our store here but I guess the managers at that one are A-OK with it

OK, sorry for the overlay watermark, but it says Obamacare is a socialist ponzi scheme - The Experts Blog on WSJ. What gets me, besides that he adheres to the word of "Chrissy", is the poster is a full on state (GOVERNMENT!) employee, with full paid-for medical/dental/vision, and a pension plan to retire in 20 years. The irony is just aggravating. Like do they not see that all people should have affordable care, christ. Nope just me. Speaking of christ, the poster is a full fledged die hard Catholic that preaches on his wall about God and love and poo poo. The rest of his wall is links. Bonus, but no pic because it was a neighbor child. Her mom dressed her daughter up (9 y/o) as Michael Jackson. When we went to take pre-pictures everything was cool and funny. But when she came to the door later, and subsequent FB posts by her MOTHER, the little girl was done up in blackface. My daughter went out trick or treating with her too as best friends. Nothing was said at the time, but man what a great impression they passed along. I need to figure out how to say something.

My whole life has been filled with people coming up to me to interrogate me on whether their joke or costume or whatever was racist, and reacting violently if I said yes. They don't actually give a poo poo about how their ~ethnic friends~ feel, they just want a convenient excuse to say NOT RACIST Basically if you can't be that 'black friend' who thought your blackface was GREAT WOW you can count on losing friendships or possibly getting hurt. It's nice knowing your opinions don't matter until you can pad these idiot's egos with them.
