How To Destroy Angels was Trent's fairly short-lived side project with his wife Mariqueen, fellow NIN member Atticus Ross and former NIN art director Rob Sheridan. Mariqueen assumes lead vocal duty here, with Trent doing backup vocals on certain songs. To date, they've released 2 EPs and 1 album and only toured once. _________________________________________________ How To Destroy Angels EP Released June 2010 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMlbYyfbeBE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y27mjl7iI1I _________________________________________________ An Omen EP Released November 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoXSUOjGk6w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq3pDuJeMqQ _________________________________________________ Welcome Oblivion Released March 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sUTVT7HzSg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY2VADkYanQ _________________________________________________ This One Is On Us: How To Destroy Angels - Live In Chicago 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWdL_SOIQPE _________________________________________________ HTDA also covered Bryan Ferry's Is Your Love Strong Enough? for the soundtrack to David Fincher's remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, a film which Trent and Atticus also scored: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVEsA6BSsWc _________________________________________________ Alessandro Cortini, member of both NIN's and HTDA's live band, has a project called SONOIO and he did a remix of The Space In Between called Between The Spaces. Jesus Christ on a loving cracker last night was awesome. I paid through the nose for those tickets but they were still worth every penny. It was said a million times in the other thread but if you have a chance to go, loving GO. Also millionth-ing that there should be a Blu-Ray of this tour. EDIT: The other important thing I need to mention here is that the two vocalists are absolutely the best thing to ever happen to NIN's live set. Serious chills during The Day the World Went Away. They curtained off the entire upper level, so it was just floor and the lower bowl, and while the pit was pretty packed, I'd say 90% of the rest of the seats were filled (the place holds ~21k full).

I'm going to Voodoo Fest all weekend, which they're playing tomorrow night, and single-day tickets for tomorrow have sold out, if that's any indication. Though it probably isn't the best because Paramore, New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio are playing tomorrow too, along with some other acts.

precision posted:How has attendance on this tour been anyway? Very hit and miss. Pretty full in Brooklyn but in Newark it was drat near empty. If you look at the venues they are playing sometimes its the smaller room in the city. In Pittsburgh I think the show played the college room instead of the new arena.

Oh man, I just got back home from seeing them at Voodoo Fest. That was loving amazing We got a lot of Hesitation Marks: Copy Of A, All Time Low, Disappointed, Came Back Haunted, Find My Way and Various Methods Of Escape, tour staples like Terrible Lie, March Of The Pigs, Only, Wish, Head Like A Hole and The Hand That Feeds, BUT! we also got The Frail, The Wretched and I'm Afraid Of Americans, and the encore was the stuff dreams are made of: Reptile, Even Deeper, In This Twilight, While I'm Still Here / Black Noise and Hurt. We didn't get Closer but Trent did manage to slip "You let me violate you" and "You let me desecrate you" into All Time Low which was pretty hilarious Another funny bit: During Copy Of A, he forgot the lyrics at the end of the first verse and instead of singing "I am just a shadow of a shadow of a shadow, always trying to catch up with myself / I am just an echo of an echo of an echo, listening to someone's cry for help", he just repeated the first part so it went "I am just a shadow of a shadow of a shadow, always trying to catch up with myself / I am just an echo of an echo of an echo, always trying to catch up with myself". I take back everything I said in the old thread about the new backup singers not being right for NIN. They sung on most of the songs and were an amazing addition to pretty much all of them. During Even Deeper, they were singing the synth parts, which loving owned. And then Black Noise...well that was definitely the loudest I'm ever gonna hear any show get. It built up and built up and the backup singers were singing to the point of almost screaming and the guitars were going nuts and the drums were all over the place and everything just got deafeningly loud and awesome, and the lights were flickering like mad, so it all felt totally disorienting, but in a good way. The crowd (of, at the very least, several thousand) went wild for them. Towards the end, Trent addressed the crowd and said something like this about New Orleans: "I've had some of my worst times here, I've found salvation here and this is probably my favorite city in the world." And of course the crowd cheered that like crazy. Honestly, I think I enjoyed the whole production of Lights In The Sky more, but this is a very close runner up. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to in a long time.

The show was fantastic, around 2/3 of the content was from HM, and they opened with All Time Low. Non-HM tracks were The Frail/The Wretched, Big Come Down, Sanctified, Hurt, Survivalism, and In This Twilight. I was in the seats and was pretty bummed at the fan engagement...felt like it was a bunch of folks that were coming to hear Head Like a Hole and Closer and then bailed 45 min in when they realized it was post-2000 stuff. However, Trent & team killed it for 90+ min and Lisa Fischer's solo during BCD was fantastic (she got a standing ovation at one point I think). He didn't say much, only that it was weird seeing himself play live on a stage (because of the lights) and that he never imagined being there.

Yeah I can imagine hearing All The Love In The World would be a real treat. It's not one of my favorites of theirs, but I do still really like it, and, to my knowledge, they haven't played it before that on this tour at all, or at least not many times if they have. Also, just a reminder to everyone to set your DVRs for Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow night. NIN is the musical guest. For Kimmel, guests don't play on the show's stage, but rather a proper outdoor stage. They're having a mini-concert after the show where the audience and others who got tickets will be able to attend. One or two songs will likely be aired in the last segment of the show and during the credits, and more will probably be available to watch online later. The show airs tomorrow night on ABC at 10:35 here (Central Time), so adjust accordingly for your time zone. I'm not going to be home to watch because I'll be going out of town to see Pelican live for the second time, but I'll catch it when I get home.

I have always quite liked ATLITW. I always picture the chorus refrain as another person responding to Trent's anksty whines. In the context of addiction and superstardom it's very bootstraps.

Had it DVRed and I just watched it. Wow, I had no idea this was their network TV debut. That's pretty crazy that it's now like 25 years into NIN being a band and this is their first network TV performance. Various Methods Of Escape and All Time Low sounded pretty awesome on the show (I love love love that intro to ATL they're doing on this tour...they did it when I saw them at Voodoo a few nights ago too) (also Closer lyrics inserted into ATL just like at our show ), and I saw Came Back Haunted and The Hand That Feeds on YouTube and those sounded good too. They should play TV more! I know Trent's probably against it, but maybe not anymore since he did this show? It'd be totally trippy and cool to see them on Conan or Letterman or something one night.
