That whole "doesn't have periods and doesn't have body hair except -list of socially acceptable places to have hair-" thing is pretty common in fantasy fanfic. When I was young and stupid and wrote fanfic, I definitely had characters with those exact traits. And this was even before I was exposed to the delights/horrors of fanfiction.net, so I guess teenage girls just aren't particularly original and share a lot of similar frustrations.

Yeah I can't even get mad at the Pretty Princess type of Mary Sue, it's just how 13-year-old girls deal with being awkward and a bit pudgy and badly-dressed with a dorky haircut. It's charming really and they'll grow out of it :unsmith:

So for those thinking that the rollout of obamacare won't affect them because they have health insurance offered through their work. ...

My old plan was cancelled last year and the company moved to a complete new set of plans (with higher deductibles and copays for the same coverage or less) and management in order to comply with expected changes.

Just announced this week was that in order to keep being able to offer medical insurance going foreword, employees are effectively taking a 3% pay cut (via 401k), they're canceling our comprehensive leave accrual, and our premiums, deductibles and copays will again be increasing among other things.

So, you're company decided that instead of sacrificing profits or, god forbid, executive pay ... they cut employee benefits. 3% pay cut (via 401k) is fussy math because it seems what he is saying is that the company's contribution to his 401k is being cut by 3%, not his actual pay. His company is huge with a lot of government contracts. If their health insurance is this lovely, it sounds like they are trying to push their employees to buy their own coverage. But, of course, ITS THE GUBBERMENT'S FAULT! I may be oversensitive because this guy is convinced the NSA is spying on him even though no one would give a poo poo about him or his doings.

^^^^^^ You're kidding, right? I'm assuming so, with the "bro," but the Nazis were in no way socialist, though they did implement many of the same social safety net programs that other Western powers were beginning during the Great Depression. I don't know if it's a company-wide policy, but a friend that works at a local Lowe's said that they cut every single non-salaried employee down to less than 25 hours a week after the newest round of reforms went into effect, and sent out a letter blaming the ACA for the cut in hours. Even before the newest reforms went into effect, he had been working full-time hours but had signed a waiver to not receive any full-time benefits such as more comprehensive insurance or any retirement benefits. The worst part is that he even bought into their bullshit rhetoric despite usually being an intelligent and politically aware person; I just told him that it wasn't the government's fault that Lowe's considered a couple hundred dollars a month in pay and benefits more valuable than the life of an employee they're pushing to remain in the company. My friend wants to go into academia, but the store manager has been telling him to be realistic and apply to an empty department manager position instead.

As for the Idiot on Facebook, I've already defriended them so I don't have a screencap, but the first thing that popped up on my feed from a distance acquaintance that sent me a friend request recently was a link to David Duke's (KKK member that ran for president in '88) website. The preview text was, "34,000 white women raped by black men every year, 0 black women raped by white men ever."

Objectively, the worst thing the Nazis did was kill millions of people.

But, in day-to-day life, the most consistently annoying thing they did was choose that loving name for themselves. It gives idiots a justification for calling anyone to the left of Pinochet a Nazi. An incredibly stupid justification that doesn't hold up to even slight scrutiny, mind you, but that doesn't stop them from doing it.

The funny part is that the counter-protest against said Neo-Nazi rally currently looks like it's going to be composed largely of socialists. Wish someone could point that out to him and watch his brain break.

They didn't even do that much. The Wiemar Republic was responsible for most of the social safety net programs that existed in Nazi Germany.

something about low hanging fruit (ie, easy girls) being lovely and rotten, and the stuff on top of the tree being best but often being ignored because it requires more effort. Insulting to pretty much everyone.
