Nowhere Men #6 finally dropped the other week after months of delay (and me coming into the thread to look for it/complain about it).

I was not disappointed. The issue kept the same quality as the others, and resolved a lot of questions, while setting up some future interesting points. The art, and in particular the colouring, has been amazing. I would read the book for the colouring alone. Overall I would recommend it and I hope they keep going with the series on a more regular basis. (I think #7 is not coming out for a while though.)

My only concern is if they decide to turn the six surviving astronauts that we know about into some kind of superhero team. I think that would be a boring route to take though, so I am confident they'll do something better with it.

Scalera was telling me about that, and it sounds kinda cool alright, but I'm not a big fan of Remender so I dunno.

Got around to reading Satellite Sam 4 and I'm considering dropping it. I'm usually a Matt Fraction fan but this just isn't doing it for me. I think there are too many plotlines that don't seem like they're intersecting (although I think I can see where at least some of them will join up, and I don't think it's all too subtle how), but more than that most of them are kind of boring, and the way the dialogue is written whenever there are more than two people talking is really jumbled. I think I'll hold out through next issue and if there isn't some big light from heaven that converts me, that's it.

I'm in the same boat on this one. It doesn't help that reading it is a wall of text. I understand some people like that but I like some actual movement rather that just talking heads.

It's a good effort but nothing's there to keep me around.

Read King's Watch#2, and still really enjoyed Parker's take on these past-their-prime heroes. I'm a sucker for most of Dynamite's resurrections of old pulp heroes (although maybe they should slow down a bit on new Shadow books). They seem more fresh and exciting than most of the heroes being shoved out the Marvel/DC production line these days.

I don't know much about Mandrake the Magician, other than it seems Dr.Strange seems to be a near complete lift. Parker's take on Flash Gordon reminds me quite a bit of Steve Rogers--the all round swell guy that exemplifies all that is decent and good but is still not above subterfuge. As for The Phantom, after all these years I swear that outfit must be sweltering in the African heat. I've never really understood the appeal of the guy. Maybe that's why I like him. What if Tarzan wore a purple bodysuit and carried revolvers? Works for me.

Comixology adds enough value with guided view *plus* the regular sales *plus* all the stuff in one place that I buy from them, too. I also wish I had the integrity to buy direct from Image and support DRM-free : / (though I also wish Image would do equivalent sales on their stuff every time Comixology does, which I don't think they do?)

Is there a way to rotate the page viewer on Comixology? I like flipping my laptop on its side to read like a book, but with the Comixology viewer, I'm stuck dragging the page around with my mouse.

This is going to sound really petty but I always buy via the Comixology store rather than iOS so that they don't get gouged for 30%

After hearing about how much Comixology gouges the publishers (Mark Millar was claiming 50%), I don't particularly care if Apple then gouges them.

Part of me wonders how much is actually Apple noticing and how much is Comixology pre-empting and making a scene as they did with Saga a few issues back.

between the giant piles of money and the Steve Jobs necromancy rituals, I would say very little. Should comixology disrupt either of those, then apple will come down on them like a tons of bricks.

That's not petty at all, I do the same thing. The subscriptions make it so that I barely ever have to go to the store, too.

Isn't this the same markup as a retail comic shop? Plus, doesn't Apple take 30% off the top of all iOS transactions?

I'm iffy on God is Dead. Things are finally picking up, but I think I may end up trade waiting on it, except I do not what the trade policy is like for that company.

Which is hilarious because it sounds like they're still going to allow it in iBooks, just not purchasable on device in comixology.

There was a giant "how to make money writing porno e-books for amazon" thread in ask/tell for a long time but I think it got shut down after a bunch of goons got outed for writing centaur impregnation porn and it was all kind of a giant pyramid scheme anyway.

And SPEAKING of uncomfortable pornography I noticed that Blue is the Warmest Color was opening at our local indie movie place so I got the comic off amazon. I haven't read it yet, but I flipped though it and it's just a gorgeous funnybook. But I'm also a sucker for sad coming-of-age stories.

I'm still waiting for my copy to come in at the library. I'm really curious, especially now knowing that the writer/artist of the comic hates the movie (which I haven't yet seen).
