El Gallinero Gros posted:Supposedly Snow legit got mad at Foley for a while because he felt Foley took it too far, but I'm pretty sure they're cool now. The story about this is hysterical in itself. Apparently Snow is in a hardcore match with someone. May have been Blackman. Anyway, he takes a monster chairshot at the end of the match, stands back up and no-sells it. Turns out the chairshot knocked his dick stiff and he remembers nothing after the impact. Regardless he gets into a shitload of heat backstage for no-selling a chairshot to the goddamn skull and after a shitload of ribbing to the boys he asks Mick not to mention it anymore since he already has enough heat on him about it. Mick agrees. A few weeks later Mick is doing a promo on some show or another and congratulates Snow on "getting an ad deal with Lay-Z-Boy, which is odd since he usually doesn't sell chairs." Snow responds to that by ruining an entire commentary segment insulting Mankind on the mic apropos of nothing since they didn't have a storyline feud going on at the time. Vince hates it and now Snow has even MORE heat on him than he did to begin with. They fleshed it out soon after though.

Unless someone else is slipping my mind, Edge and Cena are the only guys to get the "surprise return" slot at the Royal Rumble and win the match. He had a pretty great career overall. I consider him to be like an HHH-tier worker, thought not quite the level of HHH himself. Never "the guy" in WWE but with impressive runs as top heel, and ring work that often gets underrated because he worked a lower-impact style for most of his main event run, and because some critics can't get past the spear. so that's my take on edge thanks for asking

I think he could've been "the guy" if he didn't get injured a few times when he was at the hottest points in his career. I'm pretty sure he got injured in '07, '08, AND '09, and was out for several months of each (I'm not sure if there was an injury related to Edge's absence that time Taker sent him to Hell for a few months in HIAC, but he was out for a while). Still, dude main evented one of the best Wrestlemanias, so that's a pretty big deal.

That said, I've only seen that one clip of him using it and I'd like to see more footage and see if does the move differently. The original plan for Harlem Heat in WCW was to have them lead to the ring in chains and shackles by Col. Robert Parker. I don't remember if they ever actually went through with it, but they ditched this idea pretty quickly.

Well, when Russo started booking WCW, we got the match when Liger lost his IWGP Jr Heavyweight title to Juventud after hitting him with a bottle of Tequila, which pissed Liger off to no end and started the end of New Japan's working relationship with WCW. Also, Pinata on a Pole match, La Parka's subtitled gimmick and this guy from the early 90's: Yoshi Kwan, Asian assassin. Jumbo Tsuruta got over as a face in the Amarillo territory, according to Terry Funk's autobiography. Great Muta was pretty well-regarded in the old NWA days and is brought up as a legend in the revisionist WWE history.

Inoki did semi-regular shots (usually once or twice a year) for WWWF/WWF, mostly the big MSG shows, from the late-70s through about 1984, and occasional shots in most of the other big territories of the day (often on his way to or from MSG). He was portrayed seriously and usually in around a second or third from the top face role, so he's probably the answer to all of these questions.

MVP was a face, I think, though he did have somewhat of a name before entering New Japan. Shelly has been a face in New Japan. To be fair Devitt's inital push was as a heel in the stable CTU, up until he got over with the fans enough to have a long face run. They did a flashback to this in the match with Liger at BOSJ's this year where Devitt kept on telling formed CTU leader Liger "you taught me this."
