Enemy Within has become an even greater meat grinder. You'll be sacrificing your pitiful unaugmented soldiers to the alien hordes, and your Robocops will be on top of the soldier pile, blowing away aliens. Basically MECs are amazing for everything, and Gene Mod Soldiers are fantastic for EXALT and normal soldier stuff. (Arc Throwers and high mobility) Always be collecting Meld.

Oh my god UFO missions that aren't in a forest. Hallelujah! Actually all the new maps seem pretty decent so far. Training Roulette is pretty cool. I have a sprint assault, a HEAT Ammo sniper, and my squad leader is a support with sprint, holo-targetting and bulletswarm. Fun stuff. Meld is definitely a good incentive to play a little less cautiously. It's more fun than the conga line anyway. Then I got absolutely destroyed on one of the new council missions (pretty sure it's some sort of introduction to Exalt but I'm not sure because TWELVE GODDAMN THIN MEN.

Also, holy loving poo poo, MELD containers are made of wishes, soap bubbles and cotton candy. I just lost both on a mission from stray fire, one of them destroyed by a stock AR. Normal ballistics struggle to destroy anything heavier than glass, yet my rookie headshot a sectoid through one with the starting AR.

That's about what? 11 satellites? I think that's a fair number and I don't usually aim for another uplink unless I'm really far ahead. I think I put my containment facility in the top left last game and all I lost was north america and the UK.

Been playing since the expansion hit. Some thoughts: 1. The new maps own. The urban UFO crash sites especially. 2. MEC troopers are just as awesome as you might have thought from watching the previews. 3. Meld. Generally, one canister seems to be fairly easy to grab and one seems to be a lot harder. The easy one is either close to your spawn or has a generous timer, the hard one is the opposite. You can grab the first one even playing conservatively, but you need to really play loose if you want the second. 4. Always play loose. Meld is great. Gene mods are great. MEC Troopers are proof of a kind and generous God. 5. My usual strategy is fuuuucked. Researching beam weapons would have taken !38! days to complete without a live sectoid, so I said "gently caress it" and went into the Terror Mission with ballistics. And saved 15 civilians. God bless MEC Troopers!  6. I have a new favorite bug: This is just a bug, the game still doesn't actually let you spend negative credits. I went to gene mod some soldiers and when I came back to the base menu, I had 0 credits instead of the 100 or so I expected. I went to the situation room, and when I exited out, I had negative credits. Entering and leaving the situation room further decreases my money into the red. Maybe they're charging me admission or something?

My first UFO crash mission was the farm map. Immediately after grabbing the Meld Canister that ended up right next to the spawn are and sticking all my guys in overwatch, a Sectoid shot my Squaddie Sniper from the fog (the shooting animation played as though we'd seen the bastard and everything, but he was way over by the farm with a couple of buddies), without ever having been activated, and critted him in half cover for eight damage. I'm having flashbacks to my first ever UFO Defense game, guys.

Has anyone run across any new nationalities for soldiers? Also it would be pretty funny if EXALT could use arc throwers as well. Okay, Portent, one of the new Council missions? gently caress that mission. gently caress it sideways with a cactus. Got it within a day or two of the beginning of Month 2. Digging through Thin Men that early is just unpleasant. Digging through them again on VIP escort is painful again. If you see Portent pop up, bring medpacks. Lots of medpacks. At least I get the joy of knowing that Dr. Vahlen, torture queen, is gonna be "debriefing" the survivor.

I think I'll do the meld tutorial every time since it's a rank up for your squad and an easy mission with free meld. After having played for a few hours, I'd say go ahead and spend your first allotment on making your mec and mec trooper. Then start on your gene stuff after that.

So training roulette not only scrambles what class can get a skill, but at what level the skill can unlock. My Heavy has Aggression, Battlescanner and Bulletswarm. The latter doesn't sound so interesting except he got it at rank 4. it's normally a Rank 2 unlock right after a Heavy gets his rocket launcher. If you can have any skill from any rank that's not weapon-specific (or the "you have no choice" single slot ones), that means you can end up with some really loving insane soldiers.

External keys aren't the issue, I bought it directly through Steam and tried VPN and it still didn't unlock. It's possible if you get an American to gift you the expansion you'll be able to play now but I wouldn't guarantee it, they've gone out of their way to gently caress the rest of the world this time

My bro and I got it through Gamefly and he hadn't had Enemy Unknown installed - when he installed it, he had Enemy Within. I'm still having trouble even though I attempted a full reinstall. I don't think it's related to external keys.
