I'm pretty sure that's where my system is failing and if I can use a work around now instead of waiting for a patch from Firaxis, that would be awesome.

Did they lower the damage output on assault rifles? I used to be able to kill sectoids with one shot, now I'm only doing 2 damage, and the only 2nd wave option I have on is the aim bonus you get to flanking. Also, the kill cams no longer trigger even though I have 3rd person camera on. One more question: I'm playing iron man classic, and I'm almost done my first month but I'm only going to have one new satellite built before my monthly review. Is this worth restarting over?

So after playing for the past 12 hours I have decided Mecs are in fact the coolest thing to ever appear in a video game. Punching an enemy mech to death into a tank and having the tank explode and my guy shrug it off like it was nothing is the best. During an Exalt mission they had 4 snipers all clustered around. Took both my mechs and dropped grenades all over them for some sweet sweet kills. Punching things to death never gets old. I kinda hope there is an upgrade to the railgun though and the tech tree just doesn't stop there.

I'm starting to value future combat from Asia a lot higher now. The foundry has a ton of new awesome toys but they are so expensive! I rushed south america for instant autopsies but I think I'll try and rush asia next time. Also I skipped the first slingshot mission and now it's been 2 months and it hasn't shown up again, did they change something there?

The Base Defense mission is great, but it sucks that you don't get a chance to equip your squad. You get randomly chosen squad members fed to you throughout the mission, but even the four you start with just get whatever equipment they were using. Luckily I started with two of my MECs but other than that I got my B Team members in no armor and ballistic weapons.

So, the hyper reactive pupils gene mod is a little awkwardly worded. Does it mean that as soon as the soldier misses a shot, that they get +10 aim on any shot for the rest of the mission?

Man, this is the first time I've really made a stab at Classic, and with all the new stuff that Enemy Within throws at you I don't even know what the hell. I'm losing at least a guy a mission, it's a friggin meat grinder, and I don't have half the troops, funds, space, or time I need. GAAARRRRRGGH Next time I start over, I'm building TWO Mecs. I can say, though, that mimetic skin is something you don't ever want to be without because it can make your troops so, SO much more survivable.

Well I've ran into a new bug. One that spawns thin men ready to shoot on the same turn they spawn rather than just overwatching. That IS a bug, right? I'm on a VIP find and rescue mission, what seems like a new one, and after I found the VIP and started escorting him, some of the thin men are literally just materializing out of thin air and one shotting guys instantly. I just quit after one just appeared a few tiles away from my VIP and instantly shot him dead. That's fun. Am I the only one who experienced this? What are you supposed to do about it?

End of the first month on classic and I have a sat to launch. China is 5 red bars, and the rest of asia is 4 orange. Is the better option to say gently caress asia and just focus on getting south america for research, north america for money, or should I throw the satellite in china to try and salvage asia?

They really need to tell you what tech does stuff because at this point there are way too many research options and now I have to fight cyberdiscs and poo poo with ballistics. THANKS XCOM I might restart because pretty sure my game is hosed, 6 countries out so far. Don't remember classic being this difficult in vanilla

So after not playing XCom after basically marathoning like 4 runs at release I decided to drop in to the new content on Classic. Not a single noob has survived past the second mission, my core of 6 rank 3-4 guys usually has 2 or 3 uninjured and the poor recruits just end up in body bags before they even get their second kill. The more frantic playstyle is definitely incredibly engaging. You have to rush to get your meld, but moving a step too fast or too far gets you reamed. Its more strategic to spread out and draw the fight in multiple directions rather than get your group pinned down behind one wall, but you still need to stay just close enough that you don't get ninja strangled. Its a hell of a balancing act to keep it all together, especially with the new better designed maps where there is always an angle to get you killed if you don't draw out perfect strategy every turn and even then everything manages to go to poo poo even faster than vanilla. I feel for the poor souls who pick this up now with the new DLC and decide to try a classic run blind.

That Base Defense mission sure was something. I lost 1/3 of my entire army, including 3 Colonels and a Major - two of my MECs, an Assault, and a Sniper. R.I.P. Col. Does One For All turn the MEC trooper into cover like an alloy SHIV, or does it also apply to the MEC itself? If the former I can't see getting it instead of jumpjets. If the lattar... I probably still won't get it instead of jumpjets, but it would cover their weakness pretty well.
