I didn't know it would be so stupid.
Amazon just sent me a Belkin 6' micro usb cable that I neither ordered, nor received notification about. I assume it's related to buying either the PS4 or an extra DS4 from them. Anyone else?

Are your PS4's really completely silent? I'm 3 feet away and with low volume I can hear the fans kick up after a while. I just want reassurance on this.

My ps4 is dead silent all around. no fan noise, no disk noise, no anything. all i've played is resogun, AC4, and NFS, so it might not be being pushed hard enough to heat it up.

Hmm, I might have to do this. The space I have my PS4 in isn't the biggest (my 360 couldn't fit in there), and it runs pretty loud whenever I'm playing a game. When I took it to my coworker's LAN party, it was running much more quietly. Guess I'll have to find some other storage solution for it, much as it would ruin the clean entertainment center setup I've got going on.

Mine is completely silent as well (or so close to silent that I can't tell). I've played Ghosts, AC, Killzone, Reso, and Warframe without it making a sound.

I had it inside a shelf, too, and it got pretty loud running Knack and Killzone. I moved it up on top of my entertainment center last night and it's been much quieter, so far.

I mean, I could stick my hand in the shelf and feel the hot air so I didn't think it was too loud for the heat, but I think it just needs good ventilation.

Mine is in a fairly large shelf but right next to the receiver, and it only spins up the fan during Killzone.

The game menu thing, whatever it is called under each game with "overview, recent activities, and related items" seems to be working again. It looks like they can just turn on and off the what's new and related content stuff to help with the load on PSN.

Also, AC4 is really fun. I played 2 and brotherhood, and was sick of the formula at that point, but I think this adds enough fresh content. The one issue is the amount of content they give you. It may have been a good idea to flesh out some of the activities instead of introducing new things every mission and side quest.

Not exactly a ps4 issue (mine works so far), but I need to loving vent about EA and how loving inept they are. So I stopped using and older PSN I'd because I grew up and didn't like it anymore blah blah E/N. I made a new one that will be following me henceforth into PS4 oblivion. Problem is, the email address I used to make that PSN id is the same as the one I used to make my EA Origin account so naturally I linked them.

Since that time, I've now dedicated the email address I used for my new PSN id for all things PSN. So, when I go plug in my origin id into Battlefield 4 multiplayer origin login thinking I'll be prompted for my origin password and all things would be gravy, NOPE, ORIGIN ID HAS ALREADY BEEN TAKEN. Oh, well, so you can't link a second PSN name to the same ea origin account. Silly, but okay, off to the EA website so I can change that.

Well, no. You can't. So after going through their archaic as gently caress customer support process to get someone to unlink my old PSN id from my origin username, I chat with some not-very-good-at-the-English-language guy and he explains that he can't help me but my issue will be escalated and a specialist will get the name unlinked. :wtc:

Anyway, so 2 days later they email me and say no, they need me to call them and verbally explain what I want because "account security is very important to us."

I mean, gently caress. I'm already a huge non-fan of EA, but holy poo poo. I just want to play battlefield 4 online with the origin id that I like using. loving gently caress.
I had a similar problem and it was taking 3 days to get back to me.
I finally just had them call me. Hopefully it'll work this time.

I'm surprised at the hate at Sony stores. I don't have a ton of experience with them but what little I've had they've generally been good to me.

The one that stands out to me was about 8 years ago I was vacationing in Vegas. I was browsing around the store there, and noticed they had an AIBO on display. I was working on a project in college that might involve getting one (robotics project), so I asked one of the salespeople if I could take a look at it.

I made it clear I wasn't going to buy it that day, but he led me to a quiet backroom and basically just let me play with it for about 20 minutes or so. We basically just shot the poo poo about it and he wasn't pushy at all.

If they're different now that's too bad.

To be fair, that was from one person trying to return part of a bundle, which would probably result in rejection regardless of where he/she bought the things.

Apparently later they started overnighting boxes to people.

Well, not long after I posted that the FedEx guy brought my box to me. I called Sony early (like 7am PST) Saturday morning for reference. It's also got an overnight label to the repair center. Not sure if that's normal.

Sometimes with my check card I would have things not show up until a couple of days. Most banks don't officially update after Saturday 2am until Tuesday 2am (that is why when you get paid on Monday you could see your check pending on Saturday morning with a lot of banks). I would wait until your bank updates tonight (Tuesday morning) and check it again.

BF4 is a sorry mess, and it is depressing because from what I have played, I really like. The problem is, that twice now, multiplayer crashes have wiped out all my single player progress, so I don't even want to get invested in single player until I won't be repeating the first couple missions over and over. AC4 and Resogun are are excellent though, so it isn't like I am without hints todo.

Don't worry the single player doesn't make sense anyway:

So maybe I'm mistaken but this is what I understood.
Some guy named Chang is attacking. Somehow the Russians are involved. They never mention how or why.
For some reason you have to escort some people out of Chinese government / territory.
One of your squad mates goes half crazy disobeying orders for no apparent reason.
One of your squad mates ends up missing and then magically reappears back on the boat.
Some boat attacks your boat. You go and blow up this boat instead.
End of story.

No climax. No sort of conclusion. It just ends there.

Man, the voice controls actually work pretty well. They should get them implemented on apps/games/Netflix. I was playing with them earlier using the pack-in mic and it was pretty snappy, and I never had to repeat myself. I don't know that I would use them any time I actually had a controller in my hand(it's still faster to do everything with the d-pad) but there's more of a case for them than I thought if you, say, had the camera set up, the controller was out of reach, and you just wanted to turn on Netflix.

I also really like that game overviews work now. It's awesome that I can queue for a multiplayer match straight from the home screen.

Corpse Party, bitches.
I'm sure this has been brought up, but I didn't see anything about it in the OP or on the last page.

In use, does the UI feel as cluttered and awful to use as it looks in videos? Particularly the bar that just shows you every game you own, whether the disc is in the console or not. This was my biggest complaint about the Vita, and it seems like the PS4 makes it even worse by not giving you any sorting options at all.

I understand it does some sort of auto-sorting like pushing the last launched software to the front of the row, so if you don't play a game for awhile it gets pushed further and further down the row until eventually dropping off into a secondary list entirely. I guess I'm just wondering if this is effective, because even with that in place, it looks pretty messy to navigate. (Though I'm basing this on the Giant Bomb launch stream, and they had just about every available game installed, so it's probably not representative of most people's consoles at the moment)
