veedubfreak posted:I'll take lowered trucks over brolifts any day of the week. 99% of the trucks you see on the road are just driven like a car anyway. Same. Brolifts are hellaflush for trucks; a decent lowered truck is just as cool as a decent lowered car. That being said, I'm perfectly fine with a reasonable amount of lift, competently designed and installed, if the owner uses it. I'd be a giant hypocrite if I wasn't In closing, here is a terrible brolift: Fortunately spotted at the junkyard. The whole front end of the truck was charred, based on the realtree seat covers and general hackjobbery I assume the owner did some redneck wiring under the hood and forgot all about fuses.

Yeah, they usually have lovely HIDZZZZZZZzzzzz instead. Sometimes brolifts have those too though, for the ultimate in airplane spotting lights! They are cast iron/steel (not sure which, didn't have my grinder with me to check) lift blocks. One is probably factory, but stacking two is ghetto to the max, and a bad idea. Especially when you end up with 6-8" of height because of the combined blocks, that's just asking to cause damage to the leaf springs if it's driven except on sundays to church by your grandmother.

SALT CHAT I lived in Sioux Falls, SD for 5 years and they used quartzite instead of salt, it's commonly known as pipestone there. It's like nature's kitty litter and after the season ended they'd sweep it all up and leave it to dry for reuse the next year.

Guess who spent two days in jail, and can't afford to get their car out of impound? Bonus points if you can guess who also gets to carry a mandatory SR-22 for the next 5 years or so, thanks to the combo of "no license" + "no insurance" charges. On top of the "unregistered vehicle", "expired inspection", "driving without headlights" (they didn't work), and "speeding" issues. On the upside, that Maxima won't be on the road anymore. Sucks really bad for my coworker, he spent far more than that car was worth just to get the keys. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 11:50 on Nov 27, 2013 |

Kenny Rogers posted:I don't need to read any further than this - it's the best story I've read all week. I think its illegal in most areas. In Arizona, after X amount of time the impound lot will assume title as an abandoned vehicle and auction it off, but you are still on the hook for the towing and storage charges that have been racked up during that time period. Anything that wasn't paid for by the auction price will be billed to you and potentially sent to collections.

Kenny Rogers posted:Also, why would you not just walk away from a car that's impounded for n, where n is greater than the value of the car in impound? I'd guess that they'd start charging you a storage fee if you didn't pick it up after a certain amount of time, and those fees would probably compound daily until it hit whatever time limit they have for impounded vehicles and send it to auction (lol) or the crusher.

I only know about SR22 from insurance commercials from the US where a tiny computer generated general tells random homeowners that they can get car insurance even if they have one. After looking at it, wow wow wow. We have "facility" insurance which covers you if you are completely unable to get insurance any other way (which has been misused, e.g. modified cars) but it's maybe 4-6x what it should be for premiums. Seems like it just encourages people to drive more without insurance.

Blue, gold/yellow i've seen (Gold is legal though), purple once and green never, i don't think driving with green lights is possible longer than 15 minutes in this country without getting some serious fines and inspections. Especially if you become visible on highway cameras. American styled orange sidemarkers are getting popular though, even though its forbidden to have orange city lights, i think the fines are manageable for most that i've seen using them (Unless its designed that way such as Volvo's or the new Mercedes classes) Gorillian Dollars fucked around with this message at 20:40 on Nov 27, 2013 |

This is different, an actual green tinted headlight on one side and purple on the other, both of the "lovely ebay HIDzzz that claim FIFTEEN THOUSAND KELVIN COLOR TEMPERATURE" variety. I get chromatic aberration, but only in reflections off my glasses from crummy blue HIDs, which is because of the way the lenses are constructed.
