No phone calls to any phone number with a 9 in it.

Not sure if this is the right thread. I just updated my AT&T Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 and I don't get these new text notifications. It will put up a box that says "Jack Mehoff (3 messages)". If I swipe this box it gets big and then the bottom circle area lights up, and if I swipe that it takes me to the message. Am I doing this wrong? Is there a better way (other than root your phone idiot )?

Load from the cache that is, it's not actually downloading the current page. I have to refresh and do some more waiting. It's not exactly an agile and sprightly bit of code. But that said the number of tabs shouldn't matter at all, they're passed off to the cache when memory usage gets too high, it's not like they're all pootling away in the background tearing chunks out of the battery. They're basically bookmarks without the intention of keeping them

I like the clean front - but that's something I do miss. I wish the power button were not opposite the volume buttons. (Nexus 5) I don't have a moto x, but I do have a nexus 4 running dynamic notifications. And it's set to wake whenever i pull it from my pocket, but really it's just polling the proximity sensor. When I have a notification and it's sitting on my desk I can just wave my hand over the prox sensor and it wakes the phone. There must be a way to get the same thing going using Tasker even when I don't have a notification just to turn the screen on, but it looks like for me on the N4, the option isn't available :\ But if I wave my hand over the phone and it doesn't wake up then I obviously don't have any notifications

Shame that the old AOSP browser is janky because it's blazing fast in comparison, starting up anyway

I think this thread has finally convinced me to buy a MAXX over the Note3 I had my heart set on. Its a full $200 cheaper off contract and in addition to the accolades it gets here it just feels nicer to hold. I just don't trust the hollow plasticky feel of the note. I also realized that with the exception of my washing machine I've been let down by every Samsung product I've ever bought. They aren't getting any more of my money.

You will have a constant notification to update. Alternatively, you can do a full ROM install of something like CyanogenMod and use a 10.2 build (which is Android 4.3) and just not update it ever.

Chrome is super fast on the Nexus 5 so it is a huge difference upgrading from a GNex. Hell, my keyboard was slow popping up on the GNex. Took me forever to even start writing a tweet. Also I do a lot of Wikipedia reading on my phone which inevitably means I end up with like 6 tabs of related articles I want to read later. Suck it, haters

CM is badass and fairly trivial to install, especially if you have a nexus device. Its definitely worth the time to check it out. The only issue I've ever had with it was a few weeks ago when a nightly update borked the radio and the only solution was to flatten and revert to stock.

I'm using a Nexus 4 right now, with a Moto X on the way. Once I get my X, I should be able to install the GEL without messing up the stuff like Active Notifications and Touchless Control, right?

Update to Kitkat first, but yeah, you should be able to. I don't know why you'd want to, though. You can get to Google Now by swiping up from the home softkey and you can activate it via voice at any time. I can't think of any other benefit it has.

I put one on my G2. I took it off after 2 days. 1) finger prints were way worse. 2) not as smooth to the touch when swiping. 3) even perfectly installed I could see it near the camera cutouts. 4) standard ones seemed to glare in the sun more than just the screen. All in all. I'd say put one on. If you hate it. Peel it off. Even at retail pricing you're only out 15 bucks unless you buy one of those stupid invisashield rubber things and gently caress those things. On the flip side. My roommate still has hers on. It don't bother her at all and she chucks her phone Into her purse with keys and poo poo. We both have flip covers but still.
