Yu is just cool enough that he switches personas mid dance so he can have both Izanagi and Izanagi-no-Okami at the same time and just swap between them. I know I had both the first time I took down the last boss.

And here's more, also with a shot of what is presumably the new girl. For the record, the new girl actually is mentioned off-hand in Persona 4 - in Rise's S. Link, she talks about them bringing in someone to replace her. EDIT: And there are some rhythm games that let you add your own tracks, but Project DIVA definitely didn't, and this game seems to be aping that.

From what I remember from the first Project DIVA, you could make your own note tracks/stage performance to any mp3 but to do so well you needed to know the bpm and sometimes the song didn't match up quite right with the editor. Dancing All Night is going to be fun. Always play as Kanji.

I guess this thread is somewhat relevant, but is P4Arena worth it? I don't like fighting games (I don't have 40 hours a week to devote to being semi-decent online), but I hear it's worth it for the story and just being a Persona 4 game. Plus it's getting pretty drat cheap on Amazon.

As someone who almost never plays fighting games (The only ones I played this year is Arena and Divekick) I enjoyed it and didn't regret the $30 I spend for it on amazon. There's a ton of dialog in the story mode, the game is gorgeous and it has so many nods to the persona games it's crazy. Get it unless you can't stand fighting games in general. The story is pretty darn substantial and continues the P3/P4 storylines as a whole and you can set the difficulty to Easy or Very Easy if you're having trouble. There is an LP of it going on right now though.

The fighting in story mode really isn't that hard as long as you can stand to learn the basics, there's several systems in the game that make button mashing fairly effective in a basic sense so you can power through the story without a ton of trouble.

Being a canon sequel to P4, and P3 to an extent, makes Persona 4 Arena worth it if you really want more Persona. Just don't expect much from the story mode though. It's not exactly on the caliber of P3/4's storytelling, with the exception of Labrys' backstory which I found interesting. There's a ton of text to wade through like a visual novel, I particularly didn't enjoy static images and texts for up to an hour on end. This is exacerbated by how the story forces you to play every character from start to finish, forcing you to go through the same plot points, text and dialogue over and over. Would've worked better if they played it like MK9 or Injustice instead. And a bunch of the text detailing the characters' feelings at any given moment or descriptions of areas, could have easily been cut altogether. Fighting AI in fighters is boring and this game is no exception for the story mode fights. As for the fighter itself, it's definitely not bad at all. It's pretty easy to pick up and do cool stuff. It's got a ton of personality and a lot of nods to P3 and 4 that will make you smile if you're a fan. I personally have an issue with the lack of a heavy normal attack, but otherwise it's a blast to play and not a boring slog like Blazblue is.

I am not a huge fan of fighters, mainly because I don't have the time to learn the systems (I'd rather spend 40-50 hours on an RPG), but still enjoyed P4A quite a bit. If you are a Persona fan, it's a no-brainer at the current PSN price (or Amazon), especially with the sequel and bunch of other Persona games on the horizon. The only other fighters right now that I actually like are DOA5 and MK since I can kind of button mash my way to victory plus they have some sort of a story mode. I played a bit of BlazBlue, and that wasn't quite my cup of tea, but I haven't played too much of it.

oblomov posted:Is there a good guide for Soul Hackers with regards to character building and Demon Capturing? About to start it up and wanted to make sure I don't screw up something major. Basically: Your protagonist should go for physical or defensive stats, maybe a bit of Int to make demon negotiation a bit less biased against you but it isn't necessary. He is never going to be a big deal damage-wise but can do okay with good swords/good equipment. You just want him to not die. Nemissa should just max magic. She will nuke everything. She will massively nuke everything. Demons have 5 personality traits but don't level up. Instead they have a loyalty bar that goes up and they get boosts to their stats at it goes up. As long as a demon's loyalty isn't maxed, they are unlikely to obey you UNLESS you give them orders they like. Giving them an order they like makes their loyalty rise. Wild demons want to use physical attacks. Sly demons want to use magical attacks Kind demons want to heal/defend. Dumb demons dislike being told to do anything but use the Go/Auto command Calm demons are a bit complex in that they like being told to do what they THINK they have to do. So if their AI thinks they need to heal, you need to have them heal. The easiest way to 'level up' most demons is to buy the sake from the sake shop that makes them Kind and have them defend during battle. Otherwise just follow the rules above. Once their loyalty is maxed they'll obey you without question. A fused demon will have loyalty that is the mix of the demons used to fuse it, so make sure to fuse demons after you've maxed their loyalty out.
