I've listened to 2013 Danthology twice, and I don't think I'll ever listen to it ever again. I don't think it's very good. I really do like 2012 and still listen to that.

I think I like Isonine's better than Earworm's or Dantology this year, but I think he's also operating by different rules. If I remember correctly, Earmworm and Dantology force themselves to specific top lists, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the songs that make me like Isonine's didn't hit top40 or whatever.

Man, interesting thread. So I've got GirlTalk and Ludachrist and been listening to that stuff for a year or more.. came in here thinking to find some more of that and have really been blown away by the reality of this scene. EVERYONE is doing this. 2013 Internet to distribute it, modern high level software to do it on and it's the YouTube of music. For some of the guys producing what seems to be high quality stuff in this thread.. is it just a bit for fun for you? How can you produce your own sound when there are so many others doing pretty much exactly the same thing even with the same samples? theflyingexecutive posted:Mashups mostly work if you recognize the songs in them. I don't know it's name but it's fantastic. But that pop mix above 'Pop Love 2', I found that pretty repulsive. But, hey, we're talking music peeps, couldn't get much more subjective

Yeah I haven't enjoyed any mashups for some time because a lot of current pop music is used and I am entirely unfamiliar with prettymuch anything that's been in the commercial charts for years. What I consider to be "classic" mashup albums like the first two Girl Talk and 2nd & 3rd Milkman albums still had a lot of stuff I hadn't heard before but it was usually contrasted with several well-known riffs or beats so it worked well for keeping the songs fresh. Last Weird Al album fell flat for me for the same reason, the parody songs didn't work because I wasn't aware of the source music in the first place and secondly the songs being parodied don't sound that good to me anyway.
