I found a banana statue in a Ape village that could be interacted with, and the description said it had a button that wasn't very well hidden, but interacting with it didn't do anything that I could tell. Did I miss something?

There's a new-looking Snow Infantry set at the spinning wheel that uses 33 leather for the whole set, looks like it might be pretty useful starting out. And not just in the cold.

Monster and NPC behavior is implemented in lua (files available in assets). I guess they put the VM in the main binary. I do know they have as much debug and symbol info embedded as they can (from developer chatter in the release stream on twitch), so when crash bugs become less of a thing that'll probably get turned down.

Yeah, seems the 29 file may be just the full debugging and not actual game initialization stuff like I thought.

Still lots of interesting things in the file, though.

I don't know if it's been said, but shields are super good with pistols -- you don't have to drop your guard to shoot, and you negate all incoming damage.

So I just had my first death in a while after thinking I had a handle on the wildlife of my starter world.

Things were looking bad when I discovered submerging myself deep in water, did not put me out.
Then I discovered the local fire breathing wildlife can and will dive down after me, and roast me alive underwater. :supaburn:

Poor Cuddlebeak, boiled and Barbequed at the same time.

EDIT: Note to self, work out how to make a hunting knife and see if that's at least stronger than my starter sword, found Blunt Hacker Crappyhammer (worse speed worse damage, 2 armor Pen :geno:

), or hunting bow.

To whoever said you can scan seeds. I did manage to scan a wheat seed, but it just destroyed the seed with nothing to apparently show for it on my 3d Printer. Meanwhile, I have mushrooms that say I can do something with them once I find a schematic, that don't scan (but at least I can make mushroom blocks for Mario House).

EDIT Two: I love the snow infantry outfit :3:

Shields have levels but they don't display them. As long as you're getting the "BLOCKED" text on your shield don't worry about changing to a new one.

Once you get the Gravity Sphere you can get huge amounts of any ore by going to TL39 Desert planets and mining out every Fine Sand deposit you find. They're packed with everything you need and can be mined incredibly quickly. The Gravity Sphere lets you do it in safety and get out of the pit you've created easily. I'm finding Platinum, Rubium, Cerulium, Titanium, etc plus all lower ores by the truckload on this planet

e: You can also use this to farm incredibly fast pixels with a refinery

You can rotate which way items face by using the A and D keys when you've got the item out and ready to place. I saw a couple people asking about rotating supports, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

So far the google doc has locations for gun shops for the first three tiers (Avian Airships sell guns). Guns are always kind of weak though - what you want to look for are magic guns (probably), which were fixed tonight to correctly drop from level 11+ Large Monsters (the rare, tougher monster on each planet)

This shield;

Which seems guaranteed to drop from threat 3+ Glitch castles, blocks the UFOs blast and crush attacks, and anything the ground penguins or smaller UFOs can throw at you at 100% efficiency. That in addition to the new Snow Trooper armor and a decent-ish pistol makes the UFO a breeze for anyone still having problems with it.

I just discovered the wonders of BUILDING A WOODEN COOKING TABLE (how did I miss this?) Among other things, Two Wheat = Bread.
I managed to get a feathercap to drop two seeds every so often. Though with Wheat the fact you often get multiple seeds is making up for the fact that on average I get three, MAYBE four pieces of wheat per 10 grown tall as me wheat plants.

The Chili peppers (Avesmingo) still won't grow on my ship, or on the planet I found them on though.

EDIT: vvv The spinning wheel now makes that outfit with leather. As a stubborn 'one planet so far' explorer/"I turned most of the wood I've come across into planks :downs:
