If you've been waiting for an extended battery, Toys R' US has the thing for you. Only $25 I bought this last month, and get about 8 hours charge out of it. Plus, unlike the "official" battery, I don't have to unscrew anything, as this thing screws into the back of the pad. If you have a charging cradle, it will also sit in that, but it works as an adjustable stand on it's own perfectly. As you can see, it has a port for your charge cable, that charges both it and the gamepad. Now I can play SSBBrawl without having to look down in my lap bushisms.txt fucked around with this message at 21:40 on Dec 9, 2013 |

On Wii Fit U, is there a way of telling it I don't have a wiimote yet? In the personal trainer section it throws some games into the program, and if you hit B it takes you out of the whole thing. I'm expecting mine in the next day or two, but I'm aware some games actually need two of the blasted things so I'll need to skip them until I pick up a second. Even getting the game for free for buying a Wii Fit Meter, the amount of equipment needed adds up money wise! Lucky I was able to borrow a balance board from a friend.

You can go with My Routine instead, or in Personal Trainer, choose the Balance Board only option for when it's picking types of exercises. You will be locked out of the aerobic and balance games that use the gamepad though. e: If the Nintendo shop is still doing it, you can get the refurbish ed Wiimote+ and Nunchuck for 20. So you van feasibly get access to all of Wii U for $80 (20 for the board, 20 for the meter, then 40 for the 2 Wiimotes and 1 nunchuck, with an extra nunchuck.) pichupal fucked around with this message at 22:50 on Dec 9, 2013 |

Sadly Nintendo UK don't do refurbished hardware, I did check when the link went up. The meter over here is about $30 too, used to that kind of pricing! I paid $50 for Wii U Party in its shrink wrap off someone, for some reason the black controller version is cheaper here at the moment but this is a white one. Plan on getting another Motion Plus at some point, 2 originals and a couple of nunchucks as needed. Trying to hassle people who bought Wiis and don't use them anymore!

It doesn't look like a rocket ship if I wasn't told it was a rocket ship. But if I approach it they turn it into a rocket ship. Not incredibly obvious that I don't feel so bad for missing it.

How close to your face are you supposed to be holding the Gamepad (when you're not, like, sitting upright on your bed/couch and have the pad resting on your lap) ? I got the console yesterday and messed around with it for a while, but I lay on my bed with the pad in my hands and every time I had to look down the screen was kind of close to my eyes. I felt some strain after doing that for a while but then I've been sleeping for like four hours for the past couple of nights so my eyes are probably irritated as it is. But this just got me thinking about this in general. I suppose it doesn't really matter how close you hold it?

Mine are in the mail. Quite happy. Wii U sold 48,762 consoles in Japan last week, up from 28,518 the week prior. Pretty much every system got a holiday bump. Even the 360 sold 164 more consoles than the week before! 43,844 copies of Mario 3D World were sold, keeping it in the Top 10. Gran Turismo 6 topped the list, but the only other Sony game on the Top 10 was Lightning Returns at 10th. Dragon Quest X: Nemureru Yuusha to Michibiki no Meiyuu Online released for both Wii and Wii U and both copies found the Top 10. The Wii version sold 117,432 copies to the Wii U's version selling 70,648. Also just did the math and Lightning Returns sells in Japan for $75 US while the Dragon Quest X games are only $40 US. Interesting.

The "Square Tax" was a common thing with SquareEnix published DS games too until $39.99 became a more accepted price for handheld titles and I believe this is done on their major titles for any console in Japan so Lightnight Returns doesn't surprise me. Dragon Quest X only being $39.99 now doesn't surprise me either as it's a paid MMO that is very gradually sliding into the freemium direction. It actually did originally retail on the Wii for about $75 when it was new.

I guess there's usually tax and stuff to consider, but I'd kill for the equivalent of sixty dollar games over here. Splinter Cell launched at fifty-six quid on the eShop, which translates to ninety dollars.

Come Christmas time, I still circled like everything in the Sears catalog but the only thing I specifically wanted was Chrono Trigger. So my parents got me that plus went to Goodfellows to get me some other toys. I also got fruit in my stocking because that's what they used to get as poor kids. I didn't know that was their way of saying, "Times are tough right now" and I never acted like I wasn't happy with my Christmas haul because I got Chrono Trigger. Is there a website out there that specifically reviews multi-platform games focusing on the differences between the different platforms? I'm not just talking about "OMG IT RUNS AT 29.3FPS NOT 30FPS " (though if there is a significant graphical difference, I would hope they would talk about it), but also about if WiiU versions omit certain DLC or play modes.

Cartridge costs are of course dropped but what about game production costs? How many $150M games were made in 1995? I know there is far more to it. Nobody is really building games on the old Silicon Graphics computers and the like, but advertising costs are definitely up and development teams are for the most part up. How many companies had to have an orchestra 20 years ago? I don't believe there should be a standard price at all. That said, I think companies that make RPGs for example are at a disadvantage because they are expected today to price their games at the same cost as a 12 hour single player mission FPS with multiplayer.
