Then some poor guy called into Dennis Miller and said he was grateful that rich people were willing to take risks and invest their money to provide jobs for blue collar guys like him.

The glorious, benevolent wealthy. gently caress conservatives.

I'd like to think that this spat with the Catholic church would be a good lesson to ALL religious people that the conservatives with the actual power and money really don't give a poo poo about morals, God, Jesus, or whatever and all their hollow souls care about is cash and getting more of it. Sadly at this point I think most are so committed to the brand, they would gladly burn down their church if the glorious job providers told them it was the "right" thing to do.

He's been going on about this since the latest 'Pope reaffirms Christian belief in caring for the poor' extravaganza, although this justification is new to me. I didn't get a chance to catch the program today but this is a pretty loving ridiculous thing to say

That also assumes they are currently religious because they genuinely believe it and not because it provides a convenient and unattackable justification for the lovely beliefs they would have with or without religion. As soon as it becomes inconvenient to reconcile the two, such as the most powerful Christian leader saying "hey no actually Christ was all about helping the poor and American capitalism generally works against that idea" they will just abandon faith in that person, or if it became widespread then they would just jump ship to prosperity gospel or some other bullshit subsect where being a greedy poo poo is actually what God wants and he's just rewarding you for being such a good follower.

I actually enjoy conservatives digging their hole deeper in regards to social issues that they will lose in short order, because watching them panic and crash is the only conservative media I can stand to consume. Listening to them talk about issues they're not losing on tends to end in me screaming at the radio. A segment of my local clown making up barrels of facts about global warming ended that way, after he said that wind farms do orders of magnitude more damage to the environment than oil wells.
