It is far to light and flat, like it has no shadows on it. Make the outlines darker and give it some form.

Struggled a bit trying to keep that blue-green colour scheme in the cyborg and still find enough shade tones within the palette.

neurotech posted:I'm working on a pug sprite for Starbound: I'm not a fan of the shadowing, but the shadowing looks really good in game, so whatever pass is happening seems to be working. I'd maybe tilt the head towards the camera more or push the tail back? My favorite thing about pugs is their wrinkly faces, but I'm not sure if you're ok with exaggerating proportions for happy wrinkle time.

Thanks again for the feedback. I've done some shading to contrast it up a bit: I'm going to switch to GraphicsGale as Photoshop is doing my head in with animations.

I messed around with some Starbound sprites today. It's fun as heck, I wish I could do more than make sprites and add recipes.

^ Thanks Neowyrm! I've still not done a Ludum Dare. Maybe next year? Great sprites, especially for how quick they had to be made!

Satisfied with how the interface and items are coming along for my game but having trouble figuring out a decent palette for the terrain. (Mix of new and old art/colors there.) Also I really like this rabbit. Had to use a reference though.

I'm not exactly sure if it counts as pixel-art but I've been progressing a bit on this when I have some free time at work, thinking of metroidvania style games: Each part of the demon is separate to make animating it easier.

Or center it. Or something. It's drawing too much focus to the feet and to the stage itself, away from the monster's head where you probably want them to look. Otherwise the monster itself is awesome.

I've been practicing some pixel art lately, and could do with some feedback / advice. These are some examples of people that I've been toying around with, as you may see I too have been watching a fair bit of TNG lately. - at 2x zoom - at 5x zoom The lack of arms are intentional because no matter how long I tried I couldn't get them to look decent, and I've come to like the idea of a Rayman-esque disembodied hands style. The problem I'm running into now is bringing some level of detail and definition to them. I also have no idea what to do about the legs. Obviously triangle crotches look like garbage, but I run into the same problem with legs as I do with the arms - in that I just don't know what to do to make them look like they belong, I suppose. Would it be easier if I tried maybe doing them smaller? Any help is appreciated.

I am enjoying the holidays and my relaxed mind seems to be providing some good pixel art. I'm going to start drawing more biological / fleshy things to balance out my robot abundance. Cyborg monstrosities are bound to follow.

The lost definition on the front arm is fixed by animation I'd say. I like the no-neck also, and no-arms could be good, but arms do look nice too. Overall the style on these is really rad and I love them a lot

Slow progression on my fisher-vania, Asian Carp FTW. For the amateur game designers and developers here, Scirra just released tilemap support for Construct 2, which is going to save a poo poo toooon of time. Great program for prototyping.

The composition is really flat in a pixel art bayeux tapestry way. As I wrote that I realized it seems like a backhanded compliment but this is really cool dude.
