just a butt posted:http://www.batoto.net/read/_/211670/toriko_ch261_by_hi-wa-mata-noboru To be fair, even in real life there are foods like that. Notably cassava which is poisonous is not prepared properly. Most tubers like potatoes are similarly harmful when not prepared properly, though not quite as deadly.

Considering the orphanage was apparently poorer than poor, buying non-deadly ingredients was probably beyond them.

One thing I don't understand is, is there normal food production aside from all of the poo poo with capture levels that only the wealthy can afford?

I hope not. In the world of Toriko you either eat plants and animals that can break the laws of physics and level cities or you don't eat at all.

There are some low-capture-level ingredients mentioned as being genetically engineered by IGO for mass production, like Neo Tomato, IIRC.

There's also crops of meat growing in the wild, fudge geysers, and so on with capture levels of 0 and below. Don't know how those environments are inhabited/if people can get to those places safely, though, since there are wild animals everywhere.

You know what was actually surprising in this chapter? Midora, because he walks into his hosed up base and goes, "I'm hungry, start a meal", like nothing happened.

I think Midora can be smug right now because in the end the Bishokukai captured Komatsu and that's all that matters. The whole battle at the cooking fest was apparently to capture him.

I wonder who is still even part of the IGO/Bishokukai. When the Bishokukai were introduced I'd never have seen them eventually teaming up with Toriko which seems likely now

Same here, thought it would have been a glorious 3 way battle. But looks like it's going to be two underdogs against the big bad now.

He's pretty hot poo poo as a chef, too - even if you don't count the Century Soup due to his food luck giving him the last ingredient, he also innovated a way to mass-distribute a nasty medicine dish and make it fukken delicious to boot in less time than it takes most people to watch an episode of Sherlock.

Also, everyone in the X-Men/Brotherhood is gay for Jubilee's cooking skills or something.

Zebra pretty much killed everything else.
