Just a quick question - does anyone know if there are upgrades for the hunting knife or the hunting bow past steel? Trying to gather leather and meat is such a chore with these. :x fake edit: Also, is there a difference between all these shields I'm finding other than their appearance?

Are there settings to make this work better on shittier systems? It barely runs on my laptop, and my main rig is temporarily broken.

I get enough food to live just from my usual planet genociding antics.

Well I'm not certain about what they are or not, the ammo my pistol shoots are little balls that stick to whatever it hits and pops. I'm sure there's a better way but that's just my method. I understand that saw blades and other floor traps will do the job as well.

Is Shukaro still maintaining this? We have the lovely second post reserved for content, and putting in a basic guide to mods would be lovely, or at least links to. More specific question: when you install mods, can you install them to be server-wide (like, say, drop rate modification) and would this be different from regular mod installation (and how so)? TehKeen posted:Just a quick question - does anyone know if there are upgrades for the hunting knife or the hunting bow past steel? You know what's fun? Designing armor is fun. E: 10 tiers of armor for my bug race dudes is what that is. I probably won't be making tiles and furniture for a bit, it'll probably just be the weapons next and then I'll start figuring out how to add these dudes to the game proper. I've seen race mods, I know it can be done. Babe Magnet fucked around with this message at 00:54 on Dec 16, 2013 |

Two questions: Is there a quicker way to switch between skills without having to go into my inventory every time? And, are there better light sources that I can carry around besides the flashlight or do I have to mod things in?

Any tips for handling the monsters on a tier 3 planet? I just got to tier 3 after doing the whole robot mini boss thing and I'm getting my rear end handed to me by these monsters. I just don't have any weapons that are suited for dealing with them. I've got tons of gold, iron, silver, etc, but I don't see any good craftable weapons.

If you can find a settlement of some kind the guards will drop weapons that can end up better than crafted gear early on, or could. It seems like the higher the tiers go the better crafted gear gets. The Impervium Hammer is overall better than any hammer I've seen drop so far.

I think my biggest thing right now is I'm still wearing a lot of low level gear. Silver armor, some tier 2 weapons I looted, and one tech boost I found in an underground lab. Really I just need a decent weapon and something better than this gold pickaxe cause it takes forever to dig through magmarock.

Pretty much just stick them in the new Starbound/mods folder with a new .modinfo file in the mod's folder and you are good to go. Sure! Problem is with mods that modify the same files. This is especially problematic for player.config. It looks like the best (and only real) option we have is Starbound Mod Manager. It isn't fully compatible with Offended build right now. Developer says an update will come tonight. Lucid Delusion posted:Any tips for handling the monsters on a tier 3 planet? This is more a general tip than just for joining tier 3: get a fast two handed weapon, and hold that mouse button down. DPS doesn't really matter, because the fast speed will keep the melee monsters away. That will help you until you have something more reliable so you can take on ranged monsters and sentient beings.

Preferably a broadsword on that 2hander, it has a lot more reach than hammers and axes and can hit enemies above you unlike spears.

Sorry if this is a common question, but this thread moves crazy fast: Is fullscreen broken on Mac for anyone else? Every time I try to activate fullscreen it just makes the window tiny. I can maximise it again, but I would like to play in proper fullscreen if possible. Other than that, this game is crazy good. Just bumming round on the first planet trying to upgrade my stuff/get as much iron as possible before setting off the distress beacon. Occasionally still getting my rear end handed to me by monsters on that planet so I don't think I'm ready to move on yet!

They definitely need to make items take longer to despawn. Either that or make it so you can't craft stuff when your inventory's full. Just wasted 20 iron and coal when my stack of steel bars despawned.
