Mathturbator posted:I'm curious, why does it matter? It's a nice picture, but it doesn't appear to involve very sophisticated exposure. Mostly because I find that I have difficulties getting that kind of sharp focus in my night photography, so I was wondering what aperture he was using. I had predicted something like f/22 and the shutter being open far longer.

Any of you guys using telephotos for your landscapes regularly? I've always shot really wide 10-16mm range but just picked up a 70-200mm 2.8 for some portrait stuff and thought it might be nice to use it to change up the landscape perspective a bit.

I've found using a 35mm equivalent lens has become my sweet spot, not too wide, not too long.

edit: nvm, found a post of yours earlier in the thread single-mode fiber posted:A little bit of both. In Lightroom, I usually bump clarity up by around 10-15 (depending on the photo), and then vibrance maybe 10 above clarity's value. I also tend to chop down luminance of blue by 10-15, and maybe 0-5 on green. On the actual lens itself, I use a circular polarizer that I adjust to basically max effect, in addition to trying to locate myself such that the 'plane' of my field of view is as close to orthogonal to the 'plane' of the sun as I can get. Of course, there's a lot of pictures where I, the sun, or both, are at bad angles, and then I just don't process/post those I like basically everything except your skies, as the skies are kind of harsh to my eye. It almost looks like they were pasted in. That's cool if that's your thing, but I just wanted to mention it. luchadornado fucked around with this message at 23:30 on Dec 21, 2013 |

That is a great hike, and is why I finally got a 10-22 because 18 wasn't wide enough. There was people diving off that boulder on the left when I was there, they be crazy. I could only wade around for a minute or so before I had to get out.
