Somehow it still amazes me just how much whoever's behind LL101 just completely and utterly despises the entire concept of "context." Like the Duck Dynasty said a whole hell of a lot more than "homosexuality is a sin," and generally made himself look like a small-minded idiot. I'd also like to know what Hollywood studio has actually started avoiding whitewashing in their casting. People complain about it, but by and large movies are still the Twenty-Something White Guy Show 24/7. I'm not going to bother looking up Megyn Kelly's ratings, but I'm betting her show, like all of cable news, is getting its rear end kicked by broadcast news, much less entertainment programming. And the thing about Obama's Blackberry is not even out of context, it's just wrong because he didn't "choose" it. He'd have an iPhone if he could get away with it, but Apple failed him as a customer by not providing a smartphone with good enough security.

Ahh, so there's still a fairly good chance he'll be earning royalties and whatnot for at least another year, assuming A&E decides to go ahead with airing said next season, but that'll be it for him if this doesn't blow over by the time it's done with?

We have no idea what his contract is regarding royalties, what he gets or whether it's tied to his screen time, so who knows. But his suspension is "indefinite" so it could be over tomorrow or ten years from now, depending on what A&E decides. My guess is they'll wait until the story dies, end the suspension without fanfare, and keep going. What will eventually kill the show will be increasing pay raise demands from the family, coupled with decreased interest when they get replaced in the ratings by the next oddball reality show family.

My dad commented on this picture on Facebook, but it was posted with a story about how the man in white is a Christian missionary who came home one day to find his family slaughtered by Muslims to discourage him from spreading his message. In the story, the man bravely said he would continue his work, so on and so forth, with all the comments obviously sarcastically going "religion of peace, huh?" Fortunately my dad's contribution was just a small prayer for the dead, but it was upsetting to see these kids' deaths being used politically to engender ill will towards Muslims as some kind of violent silencing entity when really those kids were just victims of Al-Assad's reckless disregard for human life. The thought that people are willing to attach incorrect context to an image to push their agenda is pretty disgusting, especially when it's done in the name of intolerance. some gore http://www.demotix.com/news/1454013/syrian-children-amongst-those-killed-new-airstikes-idlib#media-1453995

After dinner the night I left, the mother of the family I was staying with read to us from a book of old Sambo stories, complete with fake jive accent. But to say black people would be attacked on sight is a stretch. I remember in the nineties, which yeah was twenty years ago I was jumped by a bunch a white dudes, as a white dude, because they saw me talking to a black dude. Seriously. The last words I heard before I was fighting some red neck fucks was "friend of the family lover". It was quite a shock. I have relatives who to this very day keep an armed weapon by the door in case they see any of "those types" walking down the street. The place is, and I'm not exaggerating a benighted poo poo-hole.

I really don't want any potential child of mine to grow up in such a skewed environment that they would mistake the world for being so homogenous as that.

Oprah said of racism, "there are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die." This equates to wishing an entire race to die to a certain breed of people.

That is a very unfortunate way to end the sentence. I assume the context was "...and they just have to die so we can move on"?
