this reminds me of something else i saw recently Hi /r/Pittsburgh ! My name is Zach and am a 21 year old computer engineering student and I plan to open a video game cafe in Oakland for the CMU and Pitt students. I am trying to gauge interest in a business like this. I am more interested in creating a community for gamers in the Pittsburgh area than turning a profit. I don't exactly know how to prove that but all I can give is my word. I want to make the computers free to use and sell food to cover the costs. So there would be a charge for non-students to use the computers. I am interested in how many people would come to use the facility and what they would pay. $1 an hour? $5 an hour? $20 for a month long pass? Would people come to use Xbox ones and PS4s? Would you send a group of kids for a video game night? What would you pay for a evening with lets say 12 gaming PCs and 2 xbox ones and 2 ps4s (enough for 8 people on console + 12 people on PCs). $50? $100? $10/person? I want to keep prices low but I also have to pay rent to the place and pay for high speed internet. The operating costs aren't too much and I'd like to pay for it by getting a lot of people to use the facility. So, that is my plan, PLEASE comment below with advice, comments, criticism, and feel free to send me a PM if you would like to talk privately about it. I don't really want to get too involved with corporate stuff because I want to make sure the place always has the best interest of the customers/community in mind. Thank you!! Zach

along with this Hi r/startups! First time poster, first start up attempt as well. I am a 21 yr old computer engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh. My idea is to open a video game cafe between Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. I am active in the gaming community and believe their to be a large market for a gaming cafe. I am still working on my business plan but am currently trying to secure a place between the two universities. I found a perfect place and called the number, but they wouldn't give me any information about the dimensions of the inside of the building or rental price. They told me to send them an email with what I want to do with the space. They also mentioned there was a lot of interest in the spot. How can I get the spot over other businesses? My current idea is to ask the gaming communities in Pittsburgh to sign some sort of petition or something, so the company knows there is a large desire for a gaming cafe. I also plan to submit a business plan to the company so they know I am serious about my plan. Thanks in advance for any insight and help!! Zach

i live in the suburbs and at one point had twice as many cars as people in the household. ive ridden public transportation less than ten times in my life and if i had to describe how many times ive used it id say "too many" public transportation is for poors and im glad my city of a million or so doesnt have any public transportation to speak of my friend who is a poor and has no car isnt such a big fan tho but i solved that problem by only buying two seaters so he cant ask me to give him rides or transport large objects for him
