I'm just curious if spending over $3000 on an amp and cab is really worth the money because as a drummer, I can't hear the difference in an over-priced drum kit that an intermediately priced kit can't replicate with the right heads, tuning and mic placement. I can't see dropping that kind of cash on a shell pack from DW so I can't relate to a guitarist dropping that kind of cash on an amplifier. It's kinda worth it but you can get great amps for dirt cheap or run a tube combo through a cab instead. Also modeling amps own really hard nowadays.

different amps for different applications, imo a $2000+ amp is justified if you're regularly drawing 150 people or so at gigs. if you don't draw, f*ck it just be loud enough over the drummer

As someone earlier mentioned, even if anything not touching or picking up the string vibration makes a difference it's ultimately irrelevant because the most it can affect your sound is a little bit and there exists a universe of accessories to shape the way your guitar sounds that aren't "getting a new guitar"

Fender Jaguars from the original 1960s release had a similar mute mechanism. Naturally, the first thing everybody did with it was throw it away along with the bridge cover.

Sounds like a dry fingerboard, must have been a dodgy bit of rosewood or something. You should paint something vile on the fretboard and varnish it. I'd forget about refretting, it's pretty hard to do with specialist tools, if you've not got them it's near impossible and then you'd have to level and dress the frets. Be easier to buy a new neck.

This right here. I own too many guitars, and it's not because of the wood differences, it's because of how they physically feel. I always bought what I've thought to be well-made lower end models and changed PUs and hardware and they sound great. But the biggest thing is the neck shape and how well the frets are dressed. I have the opposite problem you do, I have little baby hands. So, for me, one of the most comfortable necks for me to play is the PRS wide/thin. I also have a PRS santana SE that has a roundish baseball bat neck with a fairly narrow fretboard. It has low action and is a breeze to play. We all know about the "elusive tone" but for me it's finding the right combination of physical attributes that's just as elusive.
