Did they mean a local McDonald's franchise or the entire McDonald's corporation? Because McDonald's is a publicly traded company that anyone can buy stock in, so, that just doesn't add up. I guess all the other stuff doesn't really add up either.

It wasn't a joke. I was like "um what?" and she showed me some crazy video on Facebook. I was like "you can't possibly believe that right?" She said "people have done research, look at these articles! at which point I just disengaged. I work for a small company so we don't really have an HR department to speak of, and I work in a lovely Texas suburb so who knows if anyone would even be upset at blood libel 2014. My coworker is pretty ignorant/not well educated so I'm tempted to chalk this up to ignorance and not knowing any Jewish people rather than outright malice but holy poo poo I thought she was normal

I hope the research is wide eyed guys in lab coats going up to people, taking a big bite out of a cheeseburger, shoving the rest in the person's face and yelling "See?! Doesn't this tastes like Christian babies!?!"

I've been consistently surprised by the number of people who aren't able (or willing) to understand how help from others has led them to where they are in life. My brother-in-law got openly angry at me last weekend when I told him I have been receiving hand-outs my entire life. (White male from a fairly nice 2-parent household in White suburbia. College on a ROTC scholarship. Military service, blah blah blah). Just the fact that I could gently caress around at home and focus on school without having to worry about my next meal or a roof over my head isn't a hand-out apparently, despite not having to work for any of it growing up. When I mentioned how a lot of people don't have that luxury, he just dismissed it out of hand as "that's what good parents do", completely missing the point.

Costco is profitable, but they treat their employees like actual human beings.

Today, President Obama came to North Carolina State University to give a speech. As one of the attendees, I was waiting in line when a group of people handed one of these to me. At first I thought they were connected to the event. The strange thing about it is, some of their arguments have some merit, particularly the accusation of inconsistency with regards to Obama's security policy. But then they make themselves look like stupid by the absurd attack involving Adele and Beyonce, which is unconfirmed to my knowledge and is of insignificant cost. Also: "OH NO!
