So that observant Jews don't accidentally consume them. It's a plot to abduct children and feed their blood to gentiles, because ???

Not sure who posted them originally since I sometimes miss the author when copypasting on my phone.

quote:

The analogy of wealth to academic grading is fundamentally flawed, and that's why this video doesn't work.

First of all, there isn't a set amount of grade points to be distributed, but there is a finite amount of dollars. It might be more reasonable, then, to limit the amount of possible points available to the entire class. Say we have 100 students in the class and 10,000 points to distribute. Because this video seems to equate academic performance to wealth, I think it's fair to assume that these grade points could be handed out on a curve equal to the distribution of wealth in the United States as of 2007. Here's how everybody would do:

1 student will have 3,460 (out of 100) points. 9 students will have 3,850 points to share (427 points per person, average). The other 90 students will have 2,690 points to share (30 points per person, average).

Congratulations, 90% of the class flunked, despite the fact that in this scenario, everybody could have gotten 100 points.

The other problem with this analogy is that grade points are "spent" all at once. You can't carry your (somehow better than perfect) score through to another test. If you wanted this to be an accurate comparison of wealth redistribution, you'd have to mention that the students with 30 times the points they need can use them to influence the questions on the next test, or maybe just save them so their kids can cruise through school.

Don't get me wrong. I know that a flat average redistribution would be entirely ridiculous both on paper and in practice, but reasonable and practical socialism doesn't necessitate that. If we were to say that high earners should never need more than, say, 400 points, that brings those 90 failing students up to passing grades (Ds, but even so). And hell, if we did that, their parents might not beat them and they might even study harder.

Another

quote:

To get a more apt example, you need to limit the amount of possible points available to the entire class. We’ll set the student number at 100 for simplicity and the limit at 7,000 points per test so that if it was evenly distributed among all 100 students everyone would get a C on each 100 point test. Let’s assume that the distribution of all points follows the current U.S. distribution of income. Here’s how we end up:

Top 20: 4,137 points, average grade: A+ (206 points out of 100)
Second 20: 1,323 points, average grade: D (66 points out of 100)
Third 20: 812 points, average grade: F (41 points out of 100)
Fourth 20: 497 points, average grade: F (25 points out of 100)
Bottom 20: 245 points, average grade: F (12 points out of 100)

Congratulations, 3/5ths of the class flunked and 1/5th barely passed while 1/5th got more points than they will ever need to pass. None of this accounts for the amount of studying each quintile did by the way; some of the bottom 20 students worked their asses off doing 80 hours of studying just to scrape by with their 12 points each. Why did the top 20 do so well? They own the pencils and sharpeners and only agreed to let the other students use the pencils and sharpeners if they gave up some points to do so.

Welcome to American capitalism.

Have you been chatting with my old high school friend, the one who bought a new house with a tax credit, and gets tax credits for her twins, and oh, can't forget she used food stamps for a year and then dropped off 'right away because as long as the girls are fed, my husband and I can go without.'

She also works from home in a cushy job, has a lot of family support, and wasn't too proud to ask me for some practical gifts when her twins were born, because she couldn't afford $20 for a fan during the summer heat wave. But less than a year later she was raving and ranting about the EBT fuckup in Walmart, how 'those people' were stealing televisions and electronics and SHE GOT DIRTY LOOKS WHEN SHE BOUGHT LOBSTER TAILS WHEN SHE WAS ON FOOD STAMPS AND THAT WAS ONLY ONCE.

I was so pressed to ask her why she felt she 'deserved' lobster tails when she was using MY TAX DOLLARS to feed herself. She should have eaten only rice and beans and been loving thankful!

Then again she also went stupid crazy about how women who dress to 'show off' are asking for trouble and clearly don't respect themselves so why should she respect them?

I bet she thinks welfare 'people' should have to take drugs tests too. Another friend on FB is always posting how everyone on welfare needs to be drug tested, and Obama is ruining America, and how welfare whores make more babies to get more money. So tempted to ask how her three kids are that she abandoned, that are living with their father and surely on assistance, because Mommy decided she was done being a mom and disappeared one day. Oh, and then she had her third kid, and shipped it back to her ex-husband, all the while ranting that welfare queens are taking money from hard-working moms like her.

I've been consistently surprised by the number of people who aren't able (or willing) to understand how help from others has led them to where they are in life. My brother-in-law got openly angry at me last weekend when I told him I have been receiving hand-outs my entire life. (White male from a fairly nice 2-parent household in White suburbia. College on a ROTC scholarship. Military service, blah blah blah).

Just the fact that I could gently caress around at home and focus on school without having to worry about my next meal or a roof over my head isn't a hand-out apparently, despite not having to work for any of it growing up. When I mentioned how a lot of people don't have that luxury, he just dismissed it out of hand as "that's what good parents do", completely missing the point.

Basically, as the bread and wine at the Eucharist are transformed into the body and blood of Christ via the mystery of transubstantiation, and must be kept safe and secure in the monstrance or similar, and as apparently Jews love nothing more than crucifying Jesus as a pastime, it stands to reason that they would steal consecrated wafers from a church and nail them to things.

Host desecration, or damaging the bread considered to be the body of Christ, is considered to be a mortal sin in Catholicism and other faiths that follow the Eucharist, and it was a lot easier to throw around accusations of 'these Jews stole some bread and nailed it to things' than 'they are kidnapping babies and grinding them up to sell to gentiles'. Although apparently people will believe either.

Being able to have sex with random women you run to on the streets and if she says anything about it other men will harass her and other women will call her a harlot and if she's married it's almost impossible to initiate divorce proceedings which would only socially ostracize her more if they happened at all = Totally fuckin' awesome.
