Laos is going to become a AAAAA rated tourist attraction complete with Hui people leading around drugged camels. I wonder if China's crazy rear end assertion of control over economic activity in the South China Sea is a bargaining tool here: buy our railway with your money or we'll continue to throw a tantrum about where you can fish.

Today I met with my boss and was told that, because no other previous teacher had complained that they had not been paid their overtime, there was no problem. I then explained I simply wanted to be paid. The conversation went in circles until my boss asked me "when does your visa expire". What the gently caress do I do, goons? These people owe me nigh on 10,000 kuai come saturday, overtime and salary. If they don't pay me and sack me instead I am literally up the river without a paddle and can't even afford a new place to stay.

Call the police. This woman is stealing from you. Whether it's your boss or not, get your Chinese girlfriend to call the cops and have the boss frogmarched off during the middle of school. Your contract is registered with the police, so they have to enforce it. If they're going to get rid of you and not pay you then you may as well take down this corrupt organization from the inside. Take pictures when your boss is arrested and post them here. Time for a little justice, American style

Careful, a lot of schools issue visas through agencies which makes your contact technically null and void. You could sue them, but that's a long drawn out process that no foreigner can navigate. The police will do nothing, they will tell you to sue them. Source: I worked for a lovely school which issued my visa through an agency, and then extorted me for 2000 for my release letter at the end of my contract. Police in Beijing told me I had to sue to do anything about it.

Hit a student at your school and take a video. If the parents find out that teachers are hitting students, they'll all leave the school and it will be ruined. Use the video to blackmail the school. Tell them that if you don't get what you want, you will release the video and ruin their school completely. Don't let these shifty fucks put one over on you. Two can play at this game...

Sorry but this is a completely unbelievable scenario. I'm sorry that you don't understand Chinese culture. If someone is molested or raped the correct response is to blame them and send them to their grandparents' hometown forever so as to not bring shame upon your family. I know that you were making a "joke" however, let's try to stay grounded in reality. A joke isn't funny if it isn't believable. For example that's why British comedy isn't funny, most of the things people say would never happen in reality. One thing I'd ask of you Ceciltron is, do you carry an e-tool (entrenching tool) with you when you go about your business in China? If not, would you be able to get one? OK. You need to recognize that you are now in a tactical situation, which means you need to develop what is referred to as 'situational awareness'. Every move you make will produce a reactionary move on the part of the school. How do modern generals deal with this sort of situation? By controlling the flow of information and keeping the enemy unable to utilize information themselves. You have to become completely unpredictable. If they can't make sense of what you are doing, they're unable to develop a strategy to deal with you. That means you now have the upper hand. Allow me to give you some examples, with the correct responses bolded to make it easier for you to see them. Example #1: The school has asked you to teach a class about vegetables. Incorrect Response: You teach a class about vegetables. At the end of the lesson, the children understand and can correctly pronounce 8 vegetables in English, fulfilling the school's desires. Victory: The School Correct Response: You teach a class about vegetables in Old English. You are technically fulfilling the contract by teaching an 'English' class and you can not be blamed that the contract did not state clearly which form of English should be utilized in your classes. While you are technically fulfilling the details of your contract you are frustrating them in a way they'll be completely unequipped to handle. You have gained the upper hand. Victory: Ceciltron Example #2: The school would like you to work on an evening which you are normally not scheduled to work upon. Incorrect Response: You rearrange your schedule and arrive at work on the aforementioned evening, teaching a class to the best of your ability. Victory: The School Correct Response: Utilizing your entrenching tool, you arrive in class and begin to pull up the carpet. If the teachers ask you what you're doing, simply continue removing the carpeting in the classroom and do not respond to them in any way. Continue until the carpeting is entirely split from the floor. When it has been successfully separated, roll it up and place it in a prominent place in the front of the classroom. Proceed to teach the class as if nothing had happened. If any student approaches you in regards to or attempts to speak about the carpet, remove one star from their name on the board. Victory: Ceciltron Example number two will work because Chinese people have no knowledge of Latin. You can merely claim that your contract has an unwritten "Carpetum absque" clause.
