Hey chem buddy.

I took computer science (and hated it) before getting into chem and I can vouch that there were way fewer women in the engineering and computer science (which was geared toward computer engineering) classes than in the chem classes.

The worst was when guys I knew from the engineering courses kept asking me to introduce them to girls from my chem labs. Like I'm some kind of science matchmaker or something. And it was never a "she seems cool" kind of thing, always a creepy "Your lab partner is so hot introduce me" kind of thing.

As a mechanical engineer I always thought there were less women in my field because of tired social norms like "men like to work on cars, women don't" which still pervade our society.

Because there are definitely a lot more female aerospace engineers and the mechanical and aerospace fields have a lot of similarity.

Also don't be surprised at how desperate some mechanical engineers get when there are literally 2-3 girls in a class of 40+ people.

I find it even funnier because while the tank does refill from water flowing down, in order for the toilet to actually work you need to dump all that water down. So let's not let our economy trickle down, let's start cascading water from the top of society to the bottom.

Not really. The claim is that liberals are saying there's no tyranny, possibly could be technically true, but I dont think anyone said there hasn't been infringement of rights. It's just a strawman based off something no one said.

Yeah, I kinda realized after the fact it didn't make much sense.

So if you haven't gotten it, you still can and it might save your life. And now you can tell your family members that you know it's true because a guy on the internet said so.

Two nurses at the hospital I work at tested positive for Flu A this week. They both had flu shots. This does not mean the immunization is completely ineffective, they both probably got a strain not covered by the immunization. We have all been exposed to the flu many times and they are the only two sick with it.

The flu is bad this year, and the vast majority of flu cases we see are people who didn't get immunized. Had a guy test positive for H1N1 the other day who said he didn't get the flu shot because he heard it had mercury in it. I so wanted to ask him if he regretted that decision, but not only was he so sick that it would be mean, but that would be really unprofessional.

H1N1 is the dominant strain this year but the vaccine covered it. We've had a few people on ecmo with h1n1 this season, all unvaccinated. It's ugly.

Make armor or forge armor? Because the one guy I know who's started forging weapons, armor and awesome bottle openers is one of the furthest left, coolest people I know. Conversely, the guy I knew in college who made his own chainmail for combat club (which was a blast) was a big time biotruther, MRA douchebag.

Laugh at the armor people now, but you will be begging them for help when you get to material science.

Personally I never saw anybody give to women in my classes a hard time either. The only thing I heard secondhand was an older professor saying women shouldn't be engineers, but everyone thought he was an rear end in a top hat.
