I only recently started listening to The Indoor Kids (another video-game/pop culture show, but really quite funny) and occasionally the F Plus... I just can't get into any other 'Two guys just shooting the poo poo'-type shows outside of UYD. They all just feel forced or overproduced or somehow not as funny/sincere. Of course, most people that I expose it to just kind of listen for a few minutes and then zone out.

I started listening to this show over the weekend. I'm a big fan of the This Year collections because of their compilations of video game podcasts, so once I ran out of other stuff to listen to, I decided to give the UYD collection a shot. I listened to the entire 2006 and 2007 editions in 2 days and I doubt I've laughed at anything so hard in a long time (especially the Craigslist segments from 2007). So my question is, can I just jump right in to listening to the weekly stuff, or should I make some effort to go back and catch up? It would take absolutely forever if I started from 2008 and went forward, but the show is so hilarious, I'd probably do it if people think it's worth it. But if I can start listening to the current shows and maybe listen to the yearly shows once This Year puts them out, I'd be fine with that.

Both ways would be fine. Shows are good from the beginning, but I don't think you're missing anything you need to know if you just listen to the show from now on.

I think general advice (or at least mine) is to listen to the new ones every week as they come out, but also start from #1 and listen through at your own pace. It does seem like a big commitment at first, but once you start you'll just be happy about how much greatness you have left to listen to.

Whatever you do DON'T start listening to the new ones! That would just be plain silly. Start with the first 3 episodes then skip foward and listen to each live episode (IN ORDER) then listen to the one where Jonathan smokes week then the one where they fight then the lost episodes. Then, and only then, should you listen to the newer stuff. But just the Marcia episodes.
