Having finished first season of AHS last week, it's really good. Looking forward to season two, especially if it's more bonkers than the first.

People hated on Asylum hardcore while it was airing, citing poo poo like the aliens, the ends of Sister Mary Eunice and Dr. Arden's arcs, the Anne Frank lobotomy, and that dance segment especially as over the top, poorly written, or "throwing poo poo at the wall to see what sticks." As soon as people started rewatching it, they came around to it. Season three is definitely the weakest, and I don't think it's going to get much better, but it's still pretty entertaining. vvvv That's an excellent reason to watch season one. Hulu Plus is great as an internet DVR, if network TV is your thing. You don't have to wait for the shows to appear on Netflix a year or six months later. They typically are up the next day. But since you've already got Amazon Prime, you may want to cross reference what they already have available vs what Hulu Plus has.

I only use Netflix but Hulu plus always looked like the better deal to me. It just depends on which shows you like. Hulu has some great documentaries.

Rarity posted:I just looked this scene up on youtube and it's even crazier than it looks. The best part about that musical number is that it's somehow the least absurd thing that happens in that episode. It works even better in-context because it's a really great breather in-between the insane things that happen before and after it. American Horror Story S1/S2 are great, although for different reasons (S1 is more grounded and has some legitimate "horror" to it; S2 throws everything and the kitchen sink at you and mostly works). S3 is best watched as a 10 minute Youtube video compilation of amusing/horrifying vignettes because the plot linking them together is haphazard at best. It has the best casting of the three but everyone just kind of sits around until the plot calls for them to do something. Characters seem to appear and disappear for episodes at a time for no reason despite 90% of the cast living in the same house together.

Netflix continues to murder it, adding 2.3 million new subscribers in Q4 alone, and they surpassed the 10 million mark in international subs as well. The most surprising thing is that there were 2.3 million people in the US that didn't already have it. http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/22/technology/netflix-earnings/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I'm pretty cynical and negative about a lot of things, but Netflix is one of those things that delivers. I really feel it would be a bargain at twice the price, and, as I use it almost exclusively for TV, it's allowed me to see literally hundreds of hours of shows I'd've never seen otherwise. I love their model, I love the way they release their original content all at once, and i love the way they have basically mainstreamed broadband content delivery. Opening up their own shop was a huge ambitious risk, but it looks like it is paying off in spades.
