What on earth is he wearing? I also wonder if he's still holding on to the outside bar at that point, I don't see how you could manage it without having your arm pull on the bar and lowside the bike.

He's wearing a ghillie suit. It matches his camouflage motorcycle and helps keep him stealthy. Duh.... Yeah he's holding on with his hand, it's not as far as it seems.

If you made that with durable suspension and proper underbody protection (so you can just use speed to get over awkward sections) it'd be a top laugh. I really like it.

Rhyno posted:poo poo, thought it was like $1500 or something. There is one for $750 but the ad says hydrolocked. Give it another 5 years or so. Chumpcar doesn't work like that anymore. They have a big table listing what they consider the values to be for all eligible cars. Even when it was based on an AIV you came up with and showed them at tech, that was for a 'representative example' of that car, not the one you were actually racing. I don't know about the eastern or western regions but in the central region no one who finishes regularly in the top 10 would take less than $5k for their car, minimum.

NitroSpazzz posted:As drgitlin said they have a big table in the back of the rules that assigns a dollar value to a ton of cars depending on engine options and stuff. If you add go-fast parts they have a fixed value. In the end you need your car to be "worth" less than $500. Table at end of http://chumpcar.com/downloads/chumpcar-rules.pdf But also as he mentioned most of the cars actually have at least $5k in them by the time they do a race or two. Fuckin' socialists. Everyone knows the free market is superior in every way. Value is determined by what people will pay, not some formula determined by the planned economy They should use the Finnish method and just say that you can go up to any competitor with $500 after a race and they MUST sell to you, no exceptions. That'll keep everyone to the rules.

Not completely awesome, but at least kind of neat considering the signature vehicles of the 80s - Toyota Van, MR2, R107...can't tell if it's a Volvo 7x0 or a small truck behind the van but they're essentially the same thing.

Apologies for the image quality; I shot this through a Citroen dealership window in coastal Spain in 1976 with a Kodak 110 pocket camera. Scanning negatives that are essentially 35-mm split in half lengthwise is a PITA.

I'm sorry but the idea of combining those two cars, which are both great in diametrically opposite ways, is retarded*. Especially as it's already been done before: I remember reading about one built for an arab oil baron that had a fully automated manual transmission and other insane boondoggles for the time. *: where would the engine go?
