Unless I'm reading this wrong, Rick and Morty is pulling better ratings (1.5) this week than Community (1.3).

edit: The link says Community got a 1.0 but that's in the adult male demo. I hate these numbers, I don't get them... Rick and Morty also beat Archer. :what:

Well, Archer is kinda flailing this season, so that's not a surprise. Its a shame the new premise couldn't shake the show out of the rut its been in for the last few years.

Are you sure you're not just thinking of the pilot for Fat Guy Stuck In the Internet? Because that was super low budget and aired a lot of years ago. A lot.

Also Archer is brilliant this year and its declining ratings displease me.

Rick and Morty got an 0.7 in the 18-49 demo, while Community had a 1.1 last week. That probably is a pretty good number for an adult swim show, but I have no idea how they evaluate their original programming. And yes, it did edge Archer in overall viewership but Archer also had an 0.7 demo number.

I randomly caught an episode of Rick and Morty a few weeks ago where they built a theme park inside some guy's body, I guess I'll have to catch another one because it seemed like there was one joke and it was "not-Doc Brown from Back to the Future is an alcoholic, isn't that hilarious?"

The way everybody's eyes looked like amoebas irrationally bothered me too.

In this week's episode of Rick and Morty they solved their problem by just going to an alternate universe where Rick had solved the problem but both of them die from an unrelated thing shortly afterwards. So "our" Rick and Morty bury them in the backyard and take their place.

Yeah, that show sure is something.

It gets super weird later on, like Gemberling and Chains exchanging backstories. Gemberling involves him teaching at a computer camp with the plot of Dirty Dancing and Chains story involves him becoming a "teenage Dracula." Also one change from the pilot I really liked was Bit and Byte very quickly becoming annoyed with Gemberling.

I watched last week's episode of Rick and Morty on a whim, and I watched this week's based off the constant recommendations. I gotta say... it's really good. It kind of reminds me of Futurama more than a "Back to the Future riff". If I were 13 years old this would probably be my favourite thing on TV.

Guys, Broadchurch is so good.

Kind of a strange choice that David Tennant will be reprising his role in the American remake, though (across from Anna Gunn as the female lead). Wonder if he'll keep that awful perma-5 o'clock shadow he has in the original.

Spoiler question for Top of the Lake. I'm on episode 5 and I'm confused about one thing: when her dad said early on 'it's good you didn't tell anyone' and she held the gun up at him, we were supposed to definitively take that as he raped her and impregnated her, right? Because as the series goes on there are more things that keep making me think that might not be the case. But only tell me things I'm supposed to know at this point in the story, if that happens to change as it goes.

e: nm, strayed up late to finish it tonight. Hmm.

e2: Oh. Oh :(. The police dude drugged and raped her after he had dinner and wine with her at his house, didn't he? . Thanks, TV, I really needed that :smith:

It's just such a perfect fit. Rick and Rust are pretty much identical in their outlook, with Morty you just add 20 years or so and swap naïveté for self-delusion and you have Marty.

But most importantly, the idea of Woody Harrelson playing a character like Morty makes me giggle uncontrollably.

Was there any doubt? AFAIK the ratings were always pretty good. However I hope they put a lot more effort into the series compared to last season, because that was some really weak stuff at times.

Rick and Morty is funny, pretty and inventive (at least compared to Archer, which has been repeating the same tired in-jokes for four loving years now). Yeah, you won't spontaneously cum from watching it, but its far and away the best animated show on Cartoon Network and easily the 2nd best cartoon currently airing.

I liked it and I'll probably watch the rest at some point, but is there a specific reason that Rick and Morty talk the way they do? It's kind of annoying me how they constantly stutter and repeat each others' names. I honestly don't know why it bothers me so much, but one conversation they had seemed like every one of Rick's lines was punctuated with the word "Morty." Am I just :spergin:?

Still a good show.

Rick & Morty feels a lot like Futurama. And after just, what, 5 episodes, I can honestly say its one of the shows I look forward to most each week. Maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it really is out there on its own. As far as I know, there is nothing else out there like it.

I think it's some really quality stuff. And yeah, right now its better than Archer, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the most interesting and surprising Science Fiction show on television. It's unbelievably dark, crazy funny and outright insane in originality.

This; the last series of Korra went from okay to horrible pretty quickly but at least it was worth thinking about and talking about, all the other cartoons that are watchable are just cartoons, so any discussion basically amounts to quoting scenes.
